How does Choose Your Room and Living-Learning Communities work together? Your housing application was completed prior to February 3, 2015, and now you will be given special access to the “Choose Your Own Room” page in the online housing portal. Access your housing application through ISIS or www.liveon.uiowa.edu. Click the “Choose Your Room” button along the top numbered menu within your housing application. View your top Living Learning Communities. Please note that LLC preferences and rankings cannot be adjusted during this stage of the room selection process. Applicants only have access to the buildings, floors, and rooms, assigned to their top LLC choices. Choose the best LLC/Building combination for you. You can view which LLCs are in which building. Again, only pick the building with your corresponding LLCs. Select the building from those provided by clicking the building name.

Steps to choose your room!

1. View your top three Living Learning Communities. 2. Choose the best LLC/building combination available for you. 3. Select the building from those below by clicking the building name. 4. Select a floor. 5. Select a room. 6. Select your bed within the room.

You have 5 minutes to complete the task of selecting your bed. The counter will start to count down as you enter this page. If it times out the Rooms page will reload and you will need to reselect your room and bed. Select your bed here. You can only select one side of the room. If you have a mutually confirmed roommate and they are eligible for the LLC & floor, then you can bring your roommate into the space. Your roommate will have to agree to this room in their housing portal. Special note: The first roommate to choose a room only has this option once. After a space is reserved, if you or your roommate changes rooms, the second student will not be moved into the new room automatically. At any time you can select a different step in this process by clicking Building, Floor or Rooms to change your selection. Select Reserve Bed to reserve your own bed space. Congratulations, you have officially reserved your room!

Change Room appears after you have reserved a bed. This page is completely optional. It allows you to pick a different room without canceling your first one. Change Room functions the same as Choose Your Room, but without the roommate options. Special Note: the Change Room page does not change your roommate’s room. If you wish to change rooms as a pair, both roommates will need to self-select the same room using the Change Room page. A room with at least 2/2 spaces is needed for a roommate pair to coordinate a move.

Your contract binding date will be emailed to you in your official Contract Acceptance and Notice of Room Assignment email sent in late May or early June. Your binding date is 7 days after your assignment email is sent. View your application status. If you wish to cancel your application, you can do so by selecting Cancel Application. Please note: This will cancel your room booking, meal plan, and your Housing & Dining application. Cancelling your housing application will not impact your University of Iowa Admission status.
