VILLAGE CREEK BIBLE CAMP LANSING IOWA 2018 2018 Horsemanship Horsemanship Ranch Camp 3rd-6th Grade Option during Junior 2 & Junior 3 Youth Camps Ranch Camp is an opportunity for both boys and girls who attend a week of Junior camp to spend three hours in horse-related activities every day. These campers will participate in the junior camp program and they will spend two of their Instruction Hours at horses, enjoying riding and “ranch activities” like painting horses, snacks for you & your horse, and caring for your horse. They will also spend an hour with the horses before breakfast, learning to groom and saddle the horses. To register for Junior camp and for more information about other youth camps, go to www.villagecreek.net. Homeschool Horsemanship If you love horses and are homeschooled, this is the place for you! This camp is designed specifically for homeschoolers age 10 and older. The teachings, chapel content and schedule directly tie into the campers’ needs and the small size of the camp (about twenty campers) is a great chance to allow kids to get to know each other well. This camp concludes with a Friday evening program where campers will demonstrate what they have learned in a horse show at the arena. Parents, family and friends are invited to attend with a cookout meal following (donations are accepted to help cover the cost of the meal). Level 1 - Ages 10 and up Campers will come and learn the basics of grooming and horse care, as well as learning to confidently control their horse. Games will be played to develop the riders confidence on their horse. A certification for CHA Level 1 is available. Level 2* - Ages 12 and up Campers will continue to develop their knowledge of horse care while becoming confident at controlling their horse at a trot. Basics of the canter are introduced along with intermediate-level western games. A certification for CHA Level 2 is available. Level 3* This higher level riding camp will test and expand campers’ riding ability and love of horses over the course of two weeks. The first week will introduce campers to the level 3 course work and skills with games, activities and trail rides. Campers will learn more about cantering, including group cantering, simple lead changes and smooth transitions. The second week (optional) will include practicing the advanced Level 3 materials, additional activities, and preparing an advanced drill routine for the Saturday morning show. Campers will have the opportunity to take an extended overnight trail ride off camp property. A certification for Level 3 is available. Register for the first week or both weeks! Horsemanship camp is for those who are looking to have a fun and exciting week experiencing horses first hand with knowledgeable and caring staff. Students will spend time at the stable learning to ride and care for the horses. We have 3 different levels to fit all abilities. Program in ReviewSaddle up your horses for a week of horsin’ around! Campers ages 10 and up will work with horses as they learn the different responsibilities needed to take proper care of their horse. Activities and games are

planned according to the rider’s level of experience and skill.

Campers will also have chapel sessions and participate in other camp activities. Possibilities include swimming, archery, crafts, and other

activities that they can choose. Towards the end of the week, campers will ride on horseback to an overnight campout

(weather permitting).

Each week concludes with a Saturday morningprogram where campers will demonstrate what they have learned in

a horse show at the arena. All parents, family and friends are invited to attend. The program will begin at 9:30 AM.
