CATHOLIC SCHOOL GRADUATE EXPECTATION TASKFor this assignment, research one of the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations. Record point-form notes about the important aspects of the expectation. Include specific examples of how you can demonstrate the expectation in your daily life.
Next, brainstorm ideas and create a poster that displays the main aspects of the expectation. Posters should be geared toward intermediate students, and should educate your classmates on the expectation, and how it can be achieved in our lives.
BIBLICAL CONNECTIONSFind the readings listed below in the Bible, or using the following online site.
- “Leaders should consider the advice of others” (Exodus 18:13-26).
- “Older people often give wise advice” (1 Kings 12: 1-11).
- “Joy comes to those who avoid wicked advice” (Psalm 1:1).
- “God’s advice is best” (Psalm 73:24).
- “Wise people seek advice” (Proverbs 1:5).
- “Give advice to those in need” (1 Thessalonians 5:14).
Using a digit tool (Google Presentation, PowerPoint), or a different media form of your choice, re-write the biblical passage in your own words and include a picture, image, or symbol that fits the reading. In one sentence, explain how the reading applies to you as a student in a Catholic school.

UPLIFTING MULTIMEDIA MESSAGESRead the news article “We’re all in this together.” After reading, take some time to find your own inspiring quote or uplifting message. Find a way to share it with those in your neighbourhood (write the message in sidewalk chalk, make a poster and hang it in your window, share on social media with an appropriate hashtag, share with your mayor or other municipal leader). Take a picture of your creation and upload the photo to your online classroom community.

EXPLORING SOLIDARITY THROUGH MEDIA AND FAITH This assignment integrates our Catholic faith tradition into a critical analysis of the arts, media, technology, and information systems. The goal is to think critically and reflectively to evaluate situations and solve problems as they relate to issues of solidarity. Ask yourself this guiding question: how are we Church to the world?
Find a piece of media that exemplifies solidarity. This could be a recent news article, a video, a piece of art or music, a book, poem, or any other example you may find that depicts solidarity.
Prepare a short presentation (3-5 minutes) using tools of your choice to explain your chosen media piece. Be sure to include the following:●- Citations (where did you find it?).●- How it relates to our focus on solidarity.●- What can be learned from it?●- Your personal connection and why you chose the particular piece.

- During this challenging and confusing time, how are you and your family coping?
- Many people are experiencing things they may never have experienced before, such as separation from family and friends, loss of a job, loss of a loved one, etc. How are you and your family staying positive?● - In the opening of the video, the narrator says to see the emptiness as a huge act of love. What do you think he means by that?● - At the end of the video, we see the quote, “Under the shelter of each other, people survive.” What does this mean to you? In what ways are you providing “shelter” for someone?

SOCIAL JUSTICE ”RANT,” PART 2Watch several examples of Rick Mercer’s “Rick’s Rants.” Begin with this rant focusing on access to clean water.
Examine the structure and style used in each rant. Consider how/why/if the rant is effective.
Then choose one social justice issue about which you feel strongly. Research current details and relevant statistics about the issue you have chosen. Create a personal opinion piece about the issue. This piece will become your script. Record yourself saying the rant. Be sure to use facial expressions, body language, and expressive language to get your point across. Share your rant with your family, friends, and teacher, and apply any feedback provided. Submit an edited and polished version of your rant.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION, PART 2Choose one scripture reading from the following choices: - Acts 9:5-6- Luke 4:16-21- Matthew 5:14-16 - 1 Samuel 10:10-12 - Isaiah 11:2- John 8:12- Acts 13:2-3- Acts 8:14-17
Use a Bible or the following link to read the passage.
Next, analyze the reading and try to determine the roots of our modern day Sacrament of Confirmation.
Share your discoveries using a medium of your choice (eg., digital presentation, spoken word, art, written reflection). Be sure to clearly explain the connections between the scripture passage you have chosen and the rituals present in the sacrament.
