INTRODUCTION

Many people are familiar with their own astrological Zodiac Sign because Sun Sign astrology is popular in today’s culture. However, astrology is a complicated tradition and there is much more to the chart than just the Zodiac Sign where the Sun resides. The Earth’s Moon, for example, is a powerful factor to help a person gain greater understanding of a person’s nature, and so are the planets from Mercury out to Pluto. All of these bodies, working through Zodiacal Signs, residing in sections of the sky called Houses, and interacting with each other via angular relationships known as Aspects, create a birth chart which astrologers can interpret. In 1977 another body was added to the astrologer’s toolbox. Given the name Chiron (after the mythological Centaur) by its discoverer, this minor planet adds another dimension to a person’s chart. It reveals a person’s wounds, how to heal those that can be healed, and how to accept those that cannot. By exploring Chiron in a person’s chart, the path to healing and becoming psychologically well is highlighted. Doors to a larger perspective are revealed, and lessons are learned which enable you to teach others what you have discovered. The symbol for Chiron looks like a key. This is appropriate because Chiron is the key to many things including to a new way of looking at things, to rising above problems and pain, to redemption if others have been hurt, healing and forgiveness, finding a sense of belonging and to emotional truth, to name a few. Chiron in the Chart, and therefore this report, shows us where we are most vulnerable to hurts, what will ultimately comfort us, how to assimilate our pain, what we feel passionately about, our emotional truth and how to share this truth with others. Chiron shows the beauty in each person’s journey towards emotional truth and self-acceptance. The path may be painful but the journey is ultimately rewarding. When exploring Chiron interpretations, please bear in mind that, inevitably, every chart will contain some apparent contradictory influences, but this is because human beings themselves can have conflicting thoughts, emotions, and desires active at the same time. Usually, an astrologer will synthesize these apparent contradictions in order to present a cohesive and meaningful interpretation of the dilemmas of the chart. Please also be aware of the fact that each person may possess both positive and negative influences arising from Chiron in their chart, and therefore in their lives. The challenge is to accept and overcome the negative influences, so that you can successfully focus on manifesting the positive traits or qualities that are inherent within their own personal chart. This report outlines the cosmic influences to better

enable a person to work towards achieving wholeness within one’s self. Advice given within this report is meant to encourage the individual to accept responsibility for his or her own actions during a lifetime. Ultimately, the decision rests with each individual.

DOORWAYS TO UNDERSTANDING

Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it. Tori Amos.

Chiron moves through the Zodiac Signs in an erratic manner and therefore it can reside in one Sign for an extended period of time and in others for a shorter period. Nevertheless it does dwell in a Zodiac Sign for some time and this means that you are likely to share your Chiron Sign with your peers. Positively this can mean that you have empathy with your peers. The more that you understand the nature of Chiron in your Zodiac Sign the more that you can understand how to express yourself in your peer groups. There is much truth that can be gained from understanding Chiron’s Sign at the time of your birth. You can learn where you are most vulnerable to hurts, what can be of comfort, how to assimilate any hurt feelings and how to share this truth with others. The Sign can be the key to understanding opening doorways to connect with others. Chiron is in Pisces When you were born it is possible that your parents were concerned about problems that relate directly to your Chiron Zodiac Sign. Something was preoccupying your parents’ minds. These could have been personal or family challenges or related to world events. Whatever the preoccupation the result was that you were affected by these concerns. In a way your child’s mind becomes imprinted with the importance of these particular problems. You do not realize that you will have to face other problems later, which may be of equal or greater importance. Since your parents (or other role models) are so tense about what is going on at the time of your birth you become imprinted with the concept that solving these problems is ‘priority one’. You learn that nothing must stand in the way of resolving any difficulties in these areas. This then becomes a deeply ingrained ‘personal imperative’, which stays with you and challenges you during your lifetime. You need to seek out the truth, or to become a part of the right cause: something much bigger than yourself, and you deeply believe there is one specific path you must find for yourself. Herein lies one aspect of the wound where you were made to feel on some level that you would never be able to see the larger picture, or never be able to see the bigger most important truth. So there is a powerful need to seek this truth, and/or to align yourself with the one cause that is the ‘only one that is important’. (One of the major lessons to learn is to avoid falling for wrong causes, as you try to become a part of something that really matters.) You need to feel that you can make the world a better place.

Early in life you were made to feel the need to face crises of conscience, more so than most other people. Later, as an adult, you will find yourself experiencing spiritual crises often until you let go of this need to always discover the absolute truth. Because the fact is, the human mind is not capable of pigeonholing universal truths in little packages, our finite mind can only glimpse facets of the truly infinite. Perhaps the story of the blind men and the elephant is the best way to understand this. Once upon a time, there lived six blind men in a village who heard that an elephant had come to town. None of them had ever even been close to this creature so they decided to see what it’s like, each one touching it to discover its nature. “Hey, the elephant is a pillar,” said the first man who touched his leg. “Oh, no! it is like a rope,” said the second man who touched the tail. “Oh, no! it is like a thick branch of a tree,” said the third man who touched the trunk of the elephant. “It is like a big hand fan” said the fourth man who touched the ear of the elephant. “It is like a huge wall,” said the fifth man who touched the belly of the elephant. “It is like a solid pipe,” Said the sixth man who touched the tusk of the elephant. A wise man was passing by explained to them that they were all right, because each of them touched a different part of the elephant. So, actually the elephant was all that they had said. So a major lesson for you is to open up to what the universe has to tell you, and learn all you can, knowing you are only seeing a small part of the truth. If you are healing from a wound, you recognize that each person’s path is totally his or her own, and that each person find his or her own truth. But if you are still being controlled by the pain of your wound, the tendency will be, once you find a path to follow, to try and get others to follow the same path. And along with this comes an overpowering need to express love and caring, which of itself is not bad at all. But part of this comes from a fear that you are not worthy of love yourself, and this too comes from a wound. Accept that you, and all creation, are beautiful, and love from the heart rather than fear. You can heal through the energies of service, and of analysis. You need to be open to spirit, to universal truths. You will accomplish this best by finding ways to be of service to other people in the real world, and by honing your skills to search for ways to make things better for the people around you. The more you are able to help others, to improve the quality of life around you, the more you will feel filled with spirit, full of love, open to new truths. Compassion is a key word for you.

WHERE IT BEGAN

The doctor is effective only when he himself is affected. Only the wounded physician heals. Carl Jung.

The twelve divisions of the sky, known to astrologers as Houses, represent twelve areas of life, and the House where Chiron is placed indicates the circumstances affecting your vulnerability. The life matters that are shaped by this vulnerability give clues as to the direction you must take to begin the hero’s journey towards healing. Astrologers state that Saturn denotes basic lessons in life in the House it resides in. Where Chiron is placed in a House describes how you will discover the lessons you need to learn. The affairs of Chiron’s House have an element of ‘now’ to them; when a problem arises here the person cannot wait until later to resolve it and nothing must stand in their way when they are trying to overcome obstacles here. The House in which Chiron is placed is where the greatest focus for healing and becoming whole lies. By using the positive energy as described by Chiron’s House position can help heal any problems that may be inherent in the horoscope. Chiron can act like a doorway to the basic energy force of the House itself, enabling a person to tap the particular power inherent in the House under review, and use it almost without limit or restriction. In fact, through Chiron’s House position a person can open doors to whole other realms, once opened, those doors can never be closed again. Chiron is in the 8th House You have some life lessons in the area of self-control, and perhaps, about getting into trouble due to a lack of it. You are much closer to all of your (for want of a better phrase) primitive drives than other people, and your lesson is either because you had difficulty keeping the raw energy channelled as a child and were castigated because of it, or because you tried to keep your desires hidden and were criticized for this, or it may be because you felt fear of being violated as a child by someone close to you. You have very strong drives, powerful animal instincts, but you have to spend much of your early years learning self-discipline, in order to use the energy constructively. To heal, you must get reacquainted with your deepest, most primitive drives and face them, and even the ones you have been told are not acceptable. There are major lessons to learn about the concepts of "mine vs yours", and this can translate as you go out into the world with serious issues about shared resources. It may be that you attract people who

Page 9: CHIRON REPORT - SparkAstrology.com · 2018-12-21 · Pluto. All of these bodies, working through Zodiacal Signs, residing in sections of the sky called Houses, and interacting with

lay the whole burden of handling the shared resources on you, or expect you to provide all of the support in the relationship, or on the other hand you may find yourself attracted to people who seem to want to take total control keeping you from having any say. These could be material resources, but they may also be empowerment. Either you are expected to take all control upon yourself, or not given the credit for being able to take charge in any way. Another area where major lessons will be learned is intimacy, and trust but this stems from the same wounds of "mine vs yours". You can tell the healing is beginning when you find yourself involved with people where there is much more of an equal sharing of resources and power. As the healing process begins, there is a basic ‘coolness’ or sophistication around you. Yet others often see hints in your behaviour that, beneath this calm exterior, there is the potential for you to become quite volatile. Still, others often see you as having a sense of calm self-assurance and conviction and as having a basic animal magnetism no matter what your actual physical looks are. Because all of your drives are closer to the surface than those of other people, you have a very strong sex drive. But as you heal from your wound, you have the ability if you choose to transcend your desires (sexual and otherwise) in ways others might not even fathom. And likewise, because you are more in touch with your own inner strength, you have the potential to be a powerful force, both in your own life, and in the world around you. You are quite perceptive about the desires of others, and the more you heal, the more deeply you are able to read others, even at their deepest level. If you have not healed, you could find yourself using your perceptiveness to try and control others, but as you heal you will be drawn to want to help others as you tune into what makes them tick. In addition, painful relationships, sometimes the death of a loved one, teach you great lessons and you become able to help others through their own repressed desires, and to deal with their deep fears. And you are drawn to the hidden, the dark, the mysteries of life, and gain the greatest sense of reward from exploring the unknown.

CONQUERING DRAGONS

A healer’s power stems not from any special ability, but from maintaining the courage and awareness to embody and express the universal healing power that every human being naturally possesses.

Eric Micha’el Leventhal.

Planets interact based on angular relationships which astrologers call ‘Aspects’. These Aspects tell a story of their own. Chiron’s Aspects show a person the specific cause of any wounding, and where they must turn on the path to becoming whole, to face and defeat the inner dragons that are blocking the healing path. Chiron is Sextile The Moon As a child you were extremely sensitive to the needs, wants, moods and desires of those around you, more so than most, which also gave you an instinct for tuning in to people’s weaknesses as well. As a result, you may have inadvertently hurt others because of what you knew, and were hurt in return. These kinds of wounds influence how you saw others as you were growing up, and may have continued to cause old buttons to be pushed long after you reached adulthood. One of your lessons is to resist any temptation to use what you know about people to control situations or even manipulate people. Positively, you have the knack and the understanding to represent the common human being, the ability to see people in a different light than most people. This makes you perceptive of their ills and weaknesses of others; their strong points and talents; their needs and wants. Thus you can give others what they want or need. You have an absolute intolerance for anything perceived as unfair or unjust, and if you perceive an imbalance it is second nature for you to fight to correct it, willing to push against seemingly insurmountable odds if you feel there is something they need to do. Chiron is Conjunct Saturn You were born during a time when there was a powerful, and rather unique, energy vibration. The only time this energy pattern occurred in the 20th Century, in fact, was from 1965 to 1967, and it indicates a deep wound but also a unique perception of structures, order, reality, and the nature of the word respect. Structure is important. It is the shell protecting a lobster, and the skeleton supporting a person within. Without structure there would be no order, and we would not have any perception of apparent reality.

Page 11: CHIRON REPORT - SparkAstrology.com · 2018-12-21 · Pluto. All of these bodies, working through Zodiacal Signs, residing in sections of the sky called Houses, and interacting with

We also would not have rules, and that inner voice (the conscience), that says ‘no’, ‘you should …’, ‘you shouldn’t … ’, ‘you can’t …’ It is any crutch one must use, until one outgrows it. Sometimes, it is absolutely necessary, it is the parent yelling “Stop!” before the little child runs onto the street, as well as the parent repeating over and over, “Look both ways before you cross the street” until the child no longer needs to be reminded. But as it says in the Bible, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” Sometimes, the need for order and structure goes too far, is too strict, too rigid, or does not let the person grow even though they are ready to move beyond their walls into new realms. When you were a child you received a very powerful and deep wound resulting from a clash with one or both authority figures, those who are supposed to be the source of structure, order, and the moral/ethical rules to follow. Whatever this wound was, it would have initially been a source of great restriction and insecurity, perhaps even self-hatred. In most cases, one parent (usually the father), is the cause of the wound, and there can be a great deal of resentment towards that parent. What you need, perhaps more than anything else, is an outlet for your pains, although you most likely needed to go through a lot of growth and healing before you were able to get enough in touch with the wound to share this pain, and release the hurt. But the inner ‘wall’, designed supposedly to protect you and keep you safe, initially locked you up in your pain. As a result you are forced to confront and deal with it inside, and work at it on your own. For some, this is because they were not allowed to express their hurt; some were not even allowed to experience their pain, so heavy-handed was the authority. In one way or another, physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually, you were abused by those who made the rules, or perhaps, even abandoned them altogether. Within your own private walls, you had to deal with the hurts, and you had to try to master the issues. By mastering them, you begin to transform your walls, your structures, your 'rules' and moral compass. Until you begin healing the wound, you may find it a struggle to find your own place in the world. Society and culture at large can be viewed with distrust and suspicion. If you do not heal, you may find yourself overcome with cynicism, or even bitterness and reject social contact altogether. As stated, when you begin to deal with your pain, you begin to transform your view of structure and order, and in doing so universalize it. You no longer see traditional rules as valid, but look to a more universal set of laws. There ceases to be limitations—only handholds and steps on your journey. Once you have come to terms with this energy, it promises a remarkable ability to delve into the most hidden aspects of life’s most basic forms, or society’s most deeply ingrained institutions, or the structures that permeate all levels of a culture. You become an individual who learns to make your own reality. It also indicates that you will never let yourself be a prisoner to any structure, nor a prisoner of the past. And then you find that you not only can share your pain, you can also help others to open up and share theirs. Think of singer Edie Brickell. She made her musical debut with a song that asked, “What I am is what I am …. Are you what you are … or what?” And then followed it with a song that attacked people who keep stuff in that bothers them by responding to “What’s the matter?” with the word “Nothing!”

Page 12: CHIRON REPORT - SparkAstrology.com · 2018-12-21 · Pluto. All of these bodies, working through Zodiacal Signs, residing in sections of the sky called Houses, and interacting with

“There’s nothing I hate more than nothing. “Nothing keeps me up all night. “I toss and turn over nothing. “Nothing could cause a great BIG fight. “Hey! What’s the matter? “Don’t Tell Me Nothing!” And she totally threw out most of the ‘shoulds’ and ‘should nots’ that society tried to impose on us. When it was time for her to fall in love, she had no problem marrying a man 25 years older than her (Paul Simon). She was writing her own rules obeying laws of a much higher authority. Chiron is Trine Neptune You are part of a small, select group of people born with a tendency to take for granted that the dreams you dream are ideals that will lead to a whole life, and may not be consciously aware of how important these dreams are to you. If, in childhood, you were allowed to dream and express the dreams, as an adult you will feel very comfortable exploring matters of alternate realities and ideals which could slowly change the world. On the other hand, if you were told in childhood to stick to the real world, the dreams you take for granted will be just the dreams instilled in you by others. To best understand yourself, you must take time to look at your deepest dreams and decide are they truly your own, or have you just taken the dreams of others and sacrificed your own? This energy enables you to sojourn beyond the present world into more spiritual realms to help you heal, and it would be advisable for you to take time on a regular basis for meditation, yoga, or other transcendental activities. In fact, it is necessary, if you are to make the best of living in the day-to-day world that you have regular times where you get away from it, and so this aspect shows that you need to be sure to allow yourself time alone. Some of your greatest inspirations will come during these ‘journeys’. Alexander G. Bell, born during a similar type of influence, came up with the idea for the telephone while on one of his ‘journeys’ outside of his day-to-day existence. Chiron is Opposite Pluto You are part of a small, select group of people, who share a similar type of energy. This energy seems to express itself in one of two ways. • In some natives it shows up as a great need to overcome some powerful inner hostility stemming from early childhood. This hostility may come from being constantly thwarted by parents, or from being a recipient of hostility from others in the environment. Whatever the cause, there are major lessons to learn about opening up, getting in touch with the inner rage, and then cleansing it once and for all from the system. • In other persons, rather than anger, the expression is a need to win, to overcome obstacles and to beat any opponent. In both cases, you need to face the root of the hostility, or intensity, in order to bring about the needed healing. It also gives a profound awareness of suffering, something you can put out of your mind but which never completely leaves you. It has been said that we laugh at most jokes because it is a way to deal with the

Page 13: CHIRON REPORT - SparkAstrology.com · 2018-12-21 · Pluto. All of these bodies, working through Zodiacal Signs, residing in sections of the sky called Houses, and interacting with

pain and suffering; we laugh because we can identify with the sorrow the object of the joke is experiencing and the laughter is a needed release. People in your group often make excellent storytellers, and tellers of jokes, because of this powerful awareness. Chiron is Square The North Node You have a major challenge in this life because there is a wound within you that makes you feel there is something wrong with you, and so you are always desirous of focusing on fixing what might seem ‘broken’ in yourself. But it is an awkward thing, trying to fix oneself and in order to do this, one must step back and look at the self from a larger, more gestalt perspective which serves to try and see yourself from different angles, to look at your past, to look at the way others see you, to look at where you want to be heading. There is a powerful urge to focus on evolving, and equally a powerful urge to deal with past memories. It is quite difficult to try and focus on both the past and the future at the same time, but that is what you tend to do. And in the process, as you try to become more whole, you draw upon old wounds. One important lesson you need to learn in this life is to forgive those who wounded you, and no matter how painful, to face hurts you would rather leave buried. One person who found a way of dealing with the same energies was Albert Einstein. His solution was to learn to approach everything as though the subject matter was new, with a mind like a child, not bringing anything he had previously learned in to the situation to colour his experience, yet not coming to it with preconceived notions of what to expect. And this is the key to live in the ‘Now’.

Conclusion

”When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.” -- Mark

Twain “Bringing Up Father”

This report has been written from a child’s point of view with the aim of helping parents and mentors better understand their youngsters. Of course, each person is ultimately responsible for their own actions, but the support that children get early in life goes a long way to helping them live rich and rewarding adult lives. Children need to be given the freedom to be their true selves rather than being forced to live up to parental expectations or to fulfill parents’ own personal journeys. They need their parents to live their own lives to the full, joyously and responsibly. Above all children need love and support. What great gifts and what a challenging role for parents! It is the author’s hope that this report may help in the process of childhood development, supporting both child and parent. My own father often quoted the above saying by Mark Twain. So I thought that I would share it in this report. My mother gave me many of the aforementioned gifts. I hope that these have shone through in the writing of this report.
