Safety Moment

‘Assessing risks and verifying safeguards’ John Watson, Chevron - CEO.

Idea of preventing incidents by analyzing potential risks and deploying improved training on risk assessment and maintaining safeguards.

Bringing it back home;

• Ebola: Doctors and nurses who treated Patrick Sawyer were not initially aware of Ebola risk he carried. That risk was discovered too late. Hence, appropriate safeguards were not put in place. They applied normal safeguards to this unknown risk and unfortunately they and the country at large have serious and fatal incidents at hand.

• Application: In our operations, offices and at home; Every stand alone case should be risk evaluated in the light of new information (in this case Ebola outbreak in Liberia/Sieria-lone/) Proper risk assessment is the first step in providing appropriate safeguard.

Do you assess the situations you find yourself enough to evaluate the safeguards in

place to protect you!!!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

I have long been a dedicated student of the processes of business administration and management. Both intricacies and their central place within the structure of our society have offered rewarding potential intellectual exploration, alongside challenging opportunities for practical application. It is this combination that has inspired throughout school, work experience and into undergraduate study and will continue to ensure that I strive to achieve similar results in future study and beyond.

The knowledge and experience have gained will ensure that am well prepared to study complex aspects of management at undergraduate level. I have also long been interested in the communication skills necessary to provide effective management and have worked to improve these abilities through the study of english and media.

Alongside my academic interest in the field I have also gained valuable work experience that has allowed me to witness, and to play part, in the application of the principled I have studied in the context of the real business world. In addition to gaining experience of general administrative duties, and liaising with clients and colleagues I also undertook data entry and company filling, allowing my first-hand experience of the administrative procedure within the industry. This experience inspired even greater enthusiasm for pursuing a role within the sector and my ultimate ambition would be to achieve an employment within industry or corporate finance.

I believe I have proven myself to be a dedicated and capable student with the potential to perform well across all aspect of the study of management. Despite some difficulties,I have retained a strong sense of focus and am determined to achieve my ultimate goal for working for a prominent industry in the world. Bolstered by the enthusiasm that been surrounded by the twin worlds of business and management will inevitably engender, I believe I can deliver on this promises throughout undergraduate study and even beyond.
