October 18, 2015 AYM NEWS & UPDATES Alpine Youth Ministry 7th-12th grades Alpine Christian academy NEWS DATES TO REMEMBER TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20TH: Pre-K to Yesterland Farms, the bus will leave the Alpine campus at 8 am, please be here by 7:45 am! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24TH: ACA Fall Fest THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29TH: Kindergarten to Yesterland Farms ACA FALL FEST SILENT AUCTION ACA is looking for silent auction items for our annual Fall Fest! This is one of ACA's events to raise funds for scholarships and campus improvements. WEDNESDAY NIGHT COMPASS KIDS We’ve got exciting and rich classes planned for your kids each Wednesday night! 1st-6th graders will meet together in C-4/5 for Compass Kids where this month’s theme is “Drills, Skills & Thrills.” Pre-K and Kindergarten meet together in C-2, 2 year olds in C-11 and 3 year olds meet in C-12. 1st- 6th graders can come at 6 pm for games and snacks. BIBLE SKILLS DRILLS & THRILLS 1st-6th grade students will meet in C-4/5 this Wednesday night for Bible Skills, Drills, & Thrills. This week’s memory work is Proverbs 3:5-6 and the Old Testament books. Nursery Assistance INFANTS Birth to 36 months are lovingly cared for in our attended nursery Sunday mornings CHILDREN 3-year-olds - 4th grade are invited to a special time of learning during our Sunday morning worship time when dismissed.

PRAYER NEEDS

PENNY PALMER, wife of Charles, recently met with her doctors and learned that her leukemia is still in remission. She is feeling good and grateful for the good news. MARILYN ROBERTSON had suc-cessful mastectomy surgery and was told the cancer had not spread and she will not require chemo. We praise God for this wonderful news! BRINLEY BARNES, 4 month old grand-daughter of Bill Barnes, will have heart surgery on October 30th at Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, AR. Please pray for all this family. DON PERRY, husband of Anna, had complications from a procedure done at Baylor and is now at GSMC rehab. Please pray for Don and Anna as this journey to healing has been a long one. GAIL ROUNTREE, mother of Brittany Simmons, had successful neck surgery Tuesday to repair damage suffered in an accident she and Brittany were in a few months ago. DARLENE KIRK, sister of Dee Anne McCrary, recently found out she has a benign tumor on the outside of her brain which is causing brain swelling and headaches. Pray for wisdom and peace as she decides on the method of treatment. PATSY BURKE, mother of Bob Burke, is now in rehab at Briarcliff in Tyler. She is struggling to eat and gain strength. Please keep her and Bob in your prayers as he is caring for her. BETTY GRAINGER, sister of Barbara Tompkins, had a slight heart attack and is now at Longview Regional. RACHEL HAGLER, wife of Steven, had an IVF appointment Wednesday. Plans are to implant the embryo into her sister this week. MORGAN WILSON, husband of Sue, is critically ill and is at peace and ready to go home. Please pray for strength for Sue as the time draws near.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

The Alpine Children's Ministry is sponsoring this year's HARVEST FESTIVAL & CHILI COOK-OFF!! The Festival will be Wednesday, October 28th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm in the parking lot by the Bus Barn. Activities include: family pumpkin carving, hayride, garden giveaways, canned food collection, live music and lots of chili! Sign-up today in the Commons to bring your favorite chili and/or cornbread!

MISSION SUNDAY SUCCESS

Mission Sunday was held October 4th with a goal of $193,000 to fund our 5 missionaries for the 2016 year. We are happy to announce that we have met our goal! This means our 5 missionary families will be able to concentrate on spreading the Word of God with their focus on bringing people into the family of Christ and not have to worry about financial restrictions. The Alpine Missions Team is in-credibly grateful for the donations made and are excited to begin an-other year supporting these amazing missionaries and their families!

WINGS TICKETS

Tickets are available today in the Commons and during the week in the church office for the Women’s Ministry annual WINGS dinner and pro-gram on November 15th. If you are interested in being a hostess for this year's WINGS program, please sign-up at the Welcome Desk in the Commons or contact Beverly Ray. There will be a meeting next Sun-day, October 25th, immediately after worship, in WC-4 for all host-esses and co-hostesses to continue planning the event. Contact the church office if you have any questions or concerns.

KIM YOUNG, wife of Jason, will be honored with a baby shower on November 1st from 2 - 3:30 pm in the FLC Atrium. Kim & Jason are expecting a baby girl! You can find their baby registry at Target & Wal-Mart. Gift cards are also welcome.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRATEGY ANNOUNCED

During this morning’s assembly the recently approved organizational strategy for Alpine will be presented. In addition to the presentation, a handout with details of the organizational structure will be available and a meeting has been scheduled at 3:00 pm today in ACCESS 118 to discuss it and how the changes will benefit Alpine.

A new monthly update from Alpine missionaries Steve & Julie Hender-son is available at the Welcome Desk in the Commons. The update for the month of October has news regarding their missionary work in Mozambique and the people they continue to pray for. Please be sure and pick up a copy today!
