Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)

Children between the ages of 4-8 are dismissed from mass to hear the Sunday readings at their level, participate in activities that reinforce the Gospel message, and return to mass at the Preparation of the Gifts. This process is important for those younger members of our parishes to understand what God is calling them to. CLOW is held during the 10:00 a.m. Mass every 2nd & 4th Sunday. The next CLOW date will be February 10th. We look forward to celebrating the Liturgy of the Word with you and your children. All volunteers are CMG Safe Haven trained. The Altar Society of St Ambrose Saints

Parish would like to invite all ladies of our parish – age 18

years and older – to join us! Altar Society is a great way to develop Catholic Christian friendships with other ladies of our parish! We would like to invite you to join us for prayer, friendship, and service working together to provide for some of the needs of our parish and school community.

Meetings: Our meetings are held on the 1st Wednesday of the month in Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. for the months of September through May.

Some of the items we support are the Altar bread and wine,

candles, Church banners, Priest and Altar server vestments. We

make baptismal garments, do weekly cleaning of the church,

provide funeral dinners, Confirmation receptions, provide and

serve snacks at our weekly Bingo and desserts at our annual

parish dinner. We also sponsor various service projects for our

parish,

Dear St. Ambrose Catholic School Family and Friends,

This week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week. Since

1974 Catholic Schools across the nation set aside a week

filled with special events to promote the core component

that brings us together as a community, our Catholic faith.

As a child, there was a poster displayed in the foyer of my

elementary school. It read:

Be it known to all who enter here, that Christ is the reason

for this school. He is the unseen, but ever-present, teacher

in its classrooms. He is the model for its faculty and the

inspiration of its students.

As I went through school and now as an adult, I’ve never

forgotten its summary, “Christ is the unseen yet ever-

present reason for this school” Those simple words played

an underlining role in my formation as an educator. That

message is the reason why our staff answers the call to

their vocation as Catholic School educators each day.

Christ's love is seen every day at St. Ambrose in the words

and actions of our staff, the students, and the families that

make up its enrollment. It's present at sporting events and

within each of our alumni families. The passion for St.

Ambrose Catholic School and its mission are what draw

others to know us better. We at St. Ambrose Catholic

School are changing lives every day and Christ is at the

center of it.

IV Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Jeremías 1,4-5.17-19: Te nombré profeta de los gentiles

Lucas 4,21-30: Médico, sánate a tí mismo El texto de Jeremías tiene dos partes, la primera se

refiere a su vocación, y la segunda a su envío profético. El

llamado de Jeremías está marcado desde el inicio por la

palabra: “me llegó una palabra de Yahvé”. El profeta es

llamado por la palabra para ser palabra de Dios en medio de

su pueblo. La palabra lo conoce desde antes de su nacimiento,

lo que significa una intimidad profunda de Dios con el

profeta. La palabra lo consagra, es decir, Dios se lo reserva

para sí, desde antes de nacer. Conocer y consagrar son el

marco para la misión de Jeremías: ser profeta de las naciones.

A partir del v. 17 Jeremías se convierte en palabra de

Dios ambulante. Debe decir en público lo que Dios le mande.

Pero decir la verdad siempre ha sido problemático y peligroso

porque se tocan los intereses de muchas personas y de las

estructuras sociales. Por esto Dios se anticipa a decirle que no

tenga miedo de afrontar su misión. El temor no es ajeno a la

vocación profética; lo importante es no abandonar la vocación

porque entonces sería Dios el que podría asustarnos, es decir,

dejar de llamarnos, de elegirnos y de consagrarnos, dejar de

confiar en nosotros, y ¿qué susto peor puede recibir un

profeta?

El domingo pasado, después de la lectura que hizo

Jesús del profeta Isaías, el evangelio terminaba diciendo que

“todos los presentes tenían fijos los ojos en él...”. El evangelio

de hoy continúa la escena, que –recordemos– se desarrolla en

la sinagoga de Nazaret. Jesús dice que en él se cumplen las

palabras de Isaías, es decir, que es «el ungido» (Mesías) para

anunciar la Buena Noticia a los pobres y oprimidos... y el

«año de gracia» del Señor.

Los vv. 22-30 los podemos dividir así: v. 22: la

reacción de la gente; vv. 23-27: la respuesta de Jesús; vv. 28-

29: indignación e intentos de matar a Jesús por parte de los

nazarenos; vv. 30: Jesús continúa su camino.

Es interesante constatar el contraste entre la reacción

de la gente en el v. 22 y la de los versículos 28-29.

Inicialmente los de su pueblo aprobaban, y se admiraban de

su paisano, pero no alcanzaban a ver en Jesús la gracia de

Dios que salía de sus labios, ni al profeta anunciado por Isaías,

sino simplemente al Jesús hijo de José. Jesús percibe que sus

paisanos no están interesados en sus palabras sino en sus

hechos, les interesa ante todo un espectáculo milagrero, que

cure los enfermos del pueblo y basta. Jesús les responde con

otro refrán: “ningún profeta es bien recibido en su patria”,

dejando claro que en Nazaret no hará ningún milagro.

Entre los vv. 25-27 Jesús acude al AT para explicar su

situación. El verdadero profeta no se deja acaparar ni mucho

menos presionar para satisfacer a un auditorio interesado sólo

por el espectáculo o por intereses individuales, aunque sean

los de sus familiares o su propio pueblo. El profeta es libre y

se debe a la palabra de Dios. La historia de Elías y Eliseo

recuerda a los nazarenos cómo éstos tuvieron que irse a tierra

de paganos porque su propio pueblo no quería escucharlos.

La característica de la mujer de Sarepta es su confianza en

Dios, confiando su vida y la de su propio hijo en un extraño

como Elías; y característico del sirio Naamán es que depone

su orgullo y soberbia nacionalistas ante las palabras de Eliseo.

La misma Iglesia reconocerá en este texto su misión de

anunciar la Buena Noticia a los más alejados, es decir, que la

Palabra echa sus primeras raíces en las personas y en las

familias, pero ése no es su destino final; tiene que ser una

palabra que busque siempre el camino de los más alejados y

necesitados.

Las palabras finales de Jesús enfurecen a los presentes

e intentan arrojar a Jesús por un barranco en las afueras del

pueblo. Es curioso cómo los pobres de Nazaret, sujetos

preferenciales del Anuncio de la Buena Nueva, desprecian la

palabra presente en su tierra. Pero la palabra no puede morir,

y Jesús continúa su camino misionero al servicio de los

pobres, marginados y excluidos, con una palabra de vida,

aunque amenazada siempre de muerte por quienes hacen de

su vida una mala noticia de egoísmo. Con la colaboración de Servicio Bíblico Latinoamericano

Adoración ante el Santísimo Sacramento

Oración y meditación ante el Santísimo Sacramento son dos

maneras de ofrecer a Dios. Usted puede pedir por sus

necesidades o las de sus seres queridos, reflexionar en su palabra

o solamente acompañarle. El realmente quiere verte.

La Exposición son todos los miércoles y el 1er Viernes del mes

después de la misa de 8:00 a.m. a las 6:45 p.m. en la capilla

seguido de la misa en español a las 7:00 p.m.

CLASSES DE CONFIRMACION PARA ADULTOS San Ambrosio ofrecerá un programa de preparación para adultos, católicos practicantes, que deseen recibir el sacramento de la Confirmación. Para calificar para este programa usted debe:

Tener al menos 18 años de edad

Haber recibido la primera comunión y reconciliación

Si está casado, debe estar casado por la iglesia

Si esta “viviendo en unión libre”, debe estar dispuesto a

casarse por la iglesia

Los candidatos deberán asistir a cuarto retiros de preparación: -Sábado, Abril 27, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH ALTAR

The Annual St. Joseph Altar will be held on March 23 at 6:30pm at St. Ignatius of Loyola, 7810 Cypresswood Dr, Spring. The public is invited to attend the St. Joseph Altar Celebration. The Mass will be at 5:15pm. Father Norbert Maduzia will lead the “Tupa-Tupa”, a play where children dressed as Mary, Joseph, and Saints knock door-to-door for food and shelter before finding the St. Joseph Table.

Guests can enjoy a Sicilian meal, which includes pasta, hard boiled eggs, green beans, salad and bread. Homemade Italian cookies and cannoli will be available for sale. The St. Joseph Altar or Table honors the story of a long drought when Sicilians were dying of starvation. The Sicilian people prayed to St. Joseph and their prayers were answered with much needed rain. The Altar is still prepared in gratitude for relief from the drought. Admission is free but donations are appreciated. Donations are given to the St. Ignatius Outreach Ministry which helps those in need in the Parish and neighboring
