IOLA — The south wall of a 113-year-old building on West Street here collapsed Sunday morning.

Owner Dan Oswalt was planning to raze the brick structure, but not quite so quickly. Originally, the building housed Iola’s first “artificial” ice plant. Oswalt plans to sell

Old Glory waves proudly from porches because there’s “country” in our blood. It’s also why we salute America’s veterans and active duty military personnel, and the reason that simple, folk lyrics

of country music tug at our heartstrings.

The American Red Cross wants to know if there’s “country” in your blood.

On Friday, June 10, a blood drive will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Hall from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., giving Fredonia area residents a chance to help a fellow American and maybe even to catch a favorite country artist’s act.

Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood and

since only about 8% of eligible blood donors give blood, the need is constant.

All presenting donors will be entered to win one of 12 sets of tickets to the Country Stampede on June 26 and are also automatically entered into a sweepstakes drawing for a Music City getaway for two to Nashville, Tenn.
