This activity will take place towards the end of your placement. You will be supporting the manager with financial
activities within the nursery. This will support you in understanding how the setting is run.
You will need to:
• Calculate how much money you have left over
• Identify tens, hundreds units to ensure accurate money management
Once you have completed the task, discuss this with your workplace mentor.

a parent; you need to write this out
correctly below.

You have been given the task of purchasing
snacks as the delivery has been delayed. You need
to monitor your spending and have been given
£80.
You have been given a list of items to purchase
for all the children in the nursery. Crackers at
£21.57, cheese spread for £10.28 and bananas for
£12.22. Please work out the calculations.
Work out the amount left after purchasing all
these items.
With the money you have left over, the manager
has asked you to pick up a cake for a staff
member’s birthday as a treat. Please work out
how much you have left after purchasing the cake
at £5.99
