Emergency placement

Taking into care

* Taking into care or emergency placement may have been preceded by a community-based child welfare intervention. The data on children taken into care or in emergency placement for the first time is most reliable for children born in 1991 or later. This is because the national Register of Child Welfare has been maintained from 1991 onwards.

1) The figures for Espoo are not included in the number of clients in community-based child welfare interventions.

2) Some of the bigger cities introduced a new client data system in 2005. The definitions of clients in community-based child welfare interventions were specified at the introductory phase of the new system.

3) As of 2008, data on new child welfare clients are collected for under-18s but no longer for clients aged 18 and over.
