ONLINE Spring 2021

H O W T O F I N D

To access CANVAS through the

SIS System go to:

www.lahc.edu (then click on

SIS Portal in upper right) or

www.mycollege.laccd.edu (then click on CANVAS)

You may also download the

CANVAS app to your electronic

device through the App Store

(Apple) or Google

Play Store (Android) to access

your Canvas courses. It's just

like Canvas on the web, but you

don’t have to lug around a laptop

or tablet to keep up with your

assignments.

1. Participation

If you were taking this class in-person at Los Angeles Harbor College, you

would be required to come to campus multiple times a week. This online

class requires you to check in several times a week to see what is going on

and to submit your assignments.

Pay attention to the deadline for the first assignment. If you have not

completed the assignment by then and/or have not communicated with me,

you will be dropped. No exceptions. This is due the end of the first week

and is plenty of time for you to complete the assignment.

Participation is essential to your success in this class. In distance education

courses you are required to participate just as if you were in a face-to-face

course. This means that in order to get full credit for participation, you will

have to complete your discussion assignments, review worksheets,

reflection assignments and exams in a timely manner. Consistent lack of

participation in class for a total of two weeks' worth of

assignments, can result in your being dropped from the course.

These activities will consist of review worksheets, discussions and/or

reflections. Activities must be thoroughly completed and turned in by the

due date to be eligible for full credit. NOTE: Weekly participation

activities that require a review of answers will not be accepted for late

credit after the answers have been posted. Late responses to the Discussion

Board prompt will receive 1/2 credit and no late student reply postings will

be accepted, as it will not allow for further conversation once the week

ends

2. Completion of Research Assignment: Research and compile a written

response to instructor assigned prompt. Assignment guidelines will be

specified in class. NOTE: There will be a 10% deduction of points for a

late assignment. No assignments will be accepted more than one week

after the original due date, except in cases where there are mitigating

circumstances.

3. Completion of All Unit Exams and Final Exam

EXAM POLICY: Make-up work is limited to one unit exam. It is the

responsibility of the student to contact instructor in order to establish a

make-up appointment. A make-up exam is to be completed within one

week of the original quiz/exam date unless there are mitigating

circumstances. Students may contact the instructor during office hours to

review their score/exam.
