Greetings to everyone who is, or has been supporting or helping our school
Kapahaka Festival Congratulations to our two Kapahaka groups on their terrific performances
at the festival on Saturday. A huge thank you to Casey Wikiriwhi-Heta, a
parent volunteer, who ran all the practice sessions over the last few months,
and who will also co-ordinate a few more practices and performances
before the end of the year. Casey was helped greatly by former staff
member Viv Te Haara (currently at home being a mum), Lisa Dewes
(Manager), and several terrific parent helpers on the day. Kapahaka is a
huge commitment for all involved, so well done and thank you everyone.
RIPPA Final You little RIPPA’s! Congratulations on your outstanding victory on
Saturday. Our Y3/4 RIPPA Team played the final of the Northland
Schools RIPPA Competition on Saturday, against Kamo, as a curtain-raiser
to the ITM Cup game for Northland, at a very wet and soggy Toll Stadium
in Whangarei. The team played their best game of the season, carving up
the defense to race out to a 3-0 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half Kamo came
back at us hard but, the defense held strong with the opposition only
managing one try in the second half resulting in a 3-1 victory. Another
trophy in the cabinet. Thank you Mr Anderson (“Coach of the Year”) and
Mrs Wade (Assistant Coach and Manager), and your many helpers and
supporters. What a wonderful achievement! Team Members: Conway
Vakatini-Harding, Alex Manuel, Kyra Te Haara, Johnny Woolley,
Samantha Wakeling, Mathew Whitaker, Sade Brash, Matthew Came,
Millie Brierly, Korban Whyte, Savanah Cullen, Sebastian Kashammer,
Billy Greene & Bella Wade.
Technology Fair There has been a buzz of excitement this week as students have shown off,
to each other, their various Technology inventions. From rockets to
catapults, to bird masks and wings, and space helmets and hats, everyone
had a great time designing, building, experimenting, and remodeling their
inventions. And then they had fun showing off their inventions to each
other. Well done all!
Parent – Teacher – Student Interviews This year we have run a competition among the classes to see who can
have the best parent attendance at the interviews. The class with the
greatest percentage of students with a family member in attendance at the
interviews, wins a free ‘hot-chips’ lunch this week. After tonight’s
interviews we will be able to identify the winning class. Thank you,
parents, for supporting your child’s education by attending the interviews.
Regards,
Dave Bradley
