Part 1!

Habit of mind: Thinking interdependently.

Being able to think interdependently is when you are able to work as a group and learn from others in different situations, and this habit of mind is shown numerous times throughout ‘Chicken Run’. One example of this is how even when all of their escape attempts kept failing, they listened to everyone’s opinions and suggestions and worked together as a team until they succeeded.

Another great example of thinking interdependently is the chickens’ cooperation, and the different ways that the movie shows us how teamwork is vital for a leader if they want to succeed. For example, when they were building the plane, they had to persevere and work together until they reached their freedom, which is a perfect example of being able to work in a group situation.

PART 2!My point of view: “The fences in this place are

inside your head.”

When the chickens’ leader, Ginger, says “the fences in this place are inside your head,” I believe that she is referring to the fact that it wasn’t the physical barriers stopping them from reaching freedom, but the mental ones. In other words, they’re not just trapped by the fences in Mr and Mrs Tweedy’s farm, but by their lack of ambition. The chickens weren’t open to new ideas and suggestions because they thought that they had no hope of escaping, when in reality they could do anything they set their minds to. All they needed was to stay persistent and optimistic, while working together until they reached freedom.

Ginger’s optimism, determination and devotion gave the chickens hope, even in the face of steep odds. Even though they thought that there was no chance of escaping, Ginger showed them that anything was possible, as long as you stay positive and put your mind to it. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

All through the movie, the chickens had to work together to reach their common goal – freedom. Just when they lost hope and were about to give up, Rocky came. Ginger and the chickens banded together when Rocky came, as he game them hope. They thought he was going to lead them to freedom by teaching them to fly, so they broke down the fences in their heads, stayed positive and persevered to reach freedom.

Ginger’s strong perseverance and dedication is no doubt the reason why the chickens were able to successfully escape the farm, as she brought them together and got them to work as a team. If it weren’t for her leadership, her fellow chickens wouldn’t have had the motivation to escape.

In conclusion, I believe that the message that Ginger’s quote is sending is that sometimes you need to stop thinking of all of the ways that things could go wrong, and start thinking of the ways they could go right. In ‘Chicken Run’, Ginger shows us how you can do anything, as long as you set your mind to it and are willing to follow through.

Part 4!

Ginger’s dream is to fly over the fence so that she can escape Mr and Mrs Tweedy’s farm and be free.

Part 5!FREEDOMItem 1. Spoon - At the start of the movie, Ginger was using a spoon while trying to dig her way out of the farm. I chose to include this because I think it is a great example of the chickens putting their escape plans into action, and how they would try anything to finally reach freedom.

Item 2. Cape-. The reason I chose a cape is because Rocky was wearing one as he flew into the farm. Ginger and the chickens banded together when Rocky came, as they thought he was going to lead them to freedom by teaching them to fly.

Item 3. Aeroplane - At the very end of the movie, the chickens built a plane. The reason I chose this item is because the plane is the thing that finally led them to freedom.

Item 4. Catapult – I chose a catapult because it was one of the many examples of the chickens finding new ways that they could potentially escape the farm. It was the first time that they had considered going over the fence instead of under.

Item 5. Wings. The reason I chose wings is because it reminded me of when they were learning to fly. They kept and open mind and were open to learn how, thinking that it was their ticket to freedom.
