NO Schooling OR Lunging will be permitted in the rings. Horses may be hacked only in the Derby ring.
Weather permitting: course may either be on the grass or part sand ring and grass.
All riders are required to wear properly fitting headgear with harness secured while mounted anywhere on the grounds.

Class List
Chicago Equestrian Hunter Derby -‐2’-‐2’6”-‐3’ Hunters will be judged on performance and soundness, with an emphasis on manners. Classes will be judged in accordance with USHJA National Hunter Derby Rules (www.ushja. org). Extreme speed will be penalized. Fences will resemble those found in a traditional hunt field.
Jumps may include natural post and rail, stone wall, white board fence or gate, coop, aiken, hedge, oxer, brush, logs and natural foliage. Distances will not be adjusted for ponies. Option jumps will be set 3” higher than the class fence height and will count for 1 bonus point.
First Round-CLASSIC HUNTER - A traditional hunter course with a minimum of 10 jumps, at least one option fence, at least one bending line, one line with an unrelated distance and one long approach.
Second Round-HANDY HUNTER - A handy hunter course with a minimum of 8 jumps and at least one option fence. The course will incorporate at least 2 of the following handy options: tight turns, different tracks, clever options for jump approaches, pen type obstacles, hand gallop a jump, trot a lowered vertical, halt and/or back.
The top 12 horses from the first round will return in reverse order (low to high score) for the Handy Hunter Round. Horses WILL NOT have to jog for soundness. A ride for ribbons and presentation of awards will be held at the completion of each class. Riders MUST ride for ribbons. Awards given for 1st through 10th place.
Open to any horse/rider combination. No professionals in 2’0 section.
Formal Attire is REQUIRED. (per HU 126) Riders must wear a shadbelly or dark coat, buff or canary breeches, and white shirt. Horses show in traditional hunter tack including snaffles or pelhams and double bridles. White breeches and dark or scarlet coat hunt colors or sponsor coats will be permitted. Braiding required.
Awards given for 1st through 10th place.
Jump Order: A posted order of go will be available at the Main Show Ring at least 1 hour prior to the start of each class. Please contact the Gate person if there are any conflicts. Riders MUST show in the posted order of go!
Entry Fee: $125
Ticketed Warm up Fences set at 2’3. Open to any horse/rider combination. Not to be judged. One round per ticket. Fee: $25 Ask the Judge Clinic After the conclusion of the derbies, riders may take advantage of a clinic scenario and go over the scorecard with the judge, then have the opportunity work on exercises to fix issues and re-ride the course and receive feedback from the judge. Fee: $75 per horse/rider combination Young Horse Young Jumper Farm Club Show These opportunities are to provide young horses mileage in different environments with courses suitable for young horses. Jumps are adjusted to various heights as needed to provide a safe and educational opportunity for young horses and perspective buyers. The event is not judged and riders may jump the course as much as needed. Fee: $75 per horse/rider combination ENTRIES: Entries will close Monday July 20, 2015. A post entry fee of $25.00 per horse will be applied after the closing date. All entry forms should be filled out completely and legibly with one entry per horse and returned to the horse show manager with payment. No numbers will be given until the entry is complete and final payment has been made or an open check has been left with the horse show secretary. Checks can be made payable to Chicago Equestrian and mailed to Broodwood Farm.
Non-negotiable checks will be assessed a penalty of $50 or 10% of the check, whichever is greater. Accounts will be given 3 days to make full payment including penalty. Scratches/no shows: All scratches may be done in the horse show office. Refunds will only be given with a vet certificate and will be refunded any excess minus a $50.00 Office Fee. Refunds will be made by check and sent in the mail within 30 days of the event.
Rules and Regulations: Every Class herein, which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith, The horse show management reserves the right to itself, to refuse, limit, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders or exhibitors thereby canceling awarded prizes, to change any course, to cancel or combine any unfilled classes or to change rings or officials, to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors, to change specifications in jumper classes as competition warrants and to intercept all questions and conditions in regard to, or arising out of, or incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All entry blanks must bear the signature and membership number of the owner and trainer.

THIS SHALL BE THE CONDITION OF ENTRY TO THIS HORSE SHOW AND SHOW GROUNDS. DAMAGE: All owners and exhibitors shall be held responsible for any damage incurred by them, their agents or employees to stalls, buildings and other properties on the show grounds and will be billed accordingly for any such damage.
