Chesney Hawkes
One and only
Reasons for choice
Similar narrative to Hall Of Fame, with features such as striving to be the best.“I am the one and only”Similar to“you can be the greatest you can be the best.”
Target audience is similarAs the camera quality is also not great, it can help us achieve a good narrative without a good camera
Chesney is young, easy to relate too
Upbeat song
Mise en Scene
Fashion is different now, however the clothes are still very bright. Thus, our characters will were bright clothes
The lighting isn’t very light, we can compensate with this. Since our camera does not picture well in the dark.
However, we do not want this effect, we want there to be a contrast of light. To reflect the good and bad times.
Editing and cinematography
Duration of this shot is 4 seconds long. This is way to long, we want to use techniques such as rapid cutting.
The main character is always main focus, which we want to emulate in our video.
Helps convey the narrative
With the technology available, we will use colour corrector to make the picture clearer.
Like the contrast of light
Similarities with Hall Of Fame
This shot emphasises that he is the best.
Laters suckers
We love you Chesney
With his back turned to the camera, it symbolizes that he is above the audience.
The light symbolizes his omnipotence
The music in the background in both these shots are fans applauding, this symbolizes their love for the characters.
DifferencesHowever, throughout the video Chesney is constantly the best, whereas the characters in Hall Of Fame had to go through a struggle
Shot of the kid getting beaten up.
The Hall of Fame narratives are separate from the band, whereas Chesney plays his character.
Furthermore, Chesney has only one narrative, which links to his message that he is the one and only. Whereas Hall of Fame has two, which shows it is more of a message to the audience which makes it more inspirational.
How it will help us As our camera quality is not great like the cameras from the time when this video was created
It will enable us to look at possible shots to create the narrative
Has a similar cliché narrative, thus we can use some ideas on how they created their narrative.
However, by analysing this video I have came to a conclusion that I may not want the narrative separate from the band.
