UreaIn the year of 1969 Chemoprojekt (CHEMOPROJECT NITROGEN) and Stamicarbon concluded a license and know how agreement, enabling Chemoprojekt (CHEMOPROJECT NITROGEN) to design and construct urea plants on the basis of the modern Stamicarbon CO2 stripping technology.

Chemoprojekt (CHEMOPROJECT NITROGEN) has been successful from the beginning in design and start up of a number of urea plants. Already in the year of 1970 first two contracts for the fertilizer factory VEB Stickstoffwerk Piesteritz in the East Germany were concluded. The first free units with the capacity of 1050 MTPD each were designed and successfully put into operation. Further on a row of the other urea plants followed.

Up to the present time Chemoprojekt (CHEMOPROJECT NITROGEN) has designed together 18 new urea plants, 3 granulation units and 4 intensification projects ever since based on the Stamicarbon urea process. Chemoprojekt (CHEMOPROJECT NITROGEN) is one of the selected Stamicarbon s contractors for urea. The single unit capacities, designed by Chemoprojekt (CHEMOPROJECT NITROGEN), range from 1000 up to 2000 MTPD. Six of the plants were designed for production of urea with low biuret content using the technology of crystallization and melt prilling. The other units are usual processes with evaporation and urea melt, producing urea either in prilling tower or granulation unit with standard biuret content.

World class – technology of Urea 2000plusTM

CHEMOPROJECT NITROGEN is entitled to design the newest modern urea plants based on the Stamicarbon Urea 2000plusTM technology. This new Urea process is an improved CO2 stripping technology, comprising application of pool condenser, pool reactor and a number of other significant improvements in synthesis section. Results of these improvements are mainly the lower investment costs now required for the CO2 stripping synthesis section and generally a better reliability of the synthesis section.

Typical also for technology of Urea 2000plusTM is the lowest possible consumption figures, better operation flexibility and consequently lower operating costs.

Finishing technology № 1: Fluid bed granulationCHEMOPROJECT NITROGEN is entitled to design and supply urea granulation units with Stamicarbon license based on fluid bed granulation process. The first pilot unit with capacity 280 MTPD was realized in 1996. Afterwards, the technology was improved for utilization in high-capacity urea units. Currently, the units with capacity from 1200 MTPD up to 3600 MTPD are in operation in one production line. The process is characteristic for its solidity and resistance of the granules against abrasion, which implies high reliability of granulation unit. Other advantage is low emission of the dust particles, which attains the values amounting to 25 mg/Nm3 in air.

The main features of process:

• Urea melt with concentration 98,5 %-wt• Low formaldehyde content• Excellent product quality• Stable operation of the unit with long runtime before washing period • Low dust emission resulted in lower wet recycle to urea melt• Substantial savings of operational costs in comparison with other fluid bed

technologies.

Finishing technology № 2: Urea pastillationCHEMOPROJECT NITROGENE through Sandvik Process System offers a pastillation technology supported also by Stamicarbon as an alternative for traditional prilling and granulation. The process has been developed since 1980 and now it is applied in chemical and food industries with more than 1500 units in operation.

The principle of technology is based on Rotoform drop depositor with steel belt cooler.

The pastillation process in summary brings this advantages:

• Environmentally friendly with very low urea dust and ammonia emissions• Very low power consumption• Uniform product with high crushing strength, high shock resistance and low abrasion.• Easy maintenance• Highly flexible with throughput ranging from 100 MTPD to 2500 MTPD using multiple

units operating in parallel.• Wide ranging application from urea, UAS, U+K, NPK products with AN.
