Polymer Chemist Full time Location: Winnipeg, Canada Exigence Technologies Inc. is seeking a chemist fluent in polymer chemistry, polymer curing mechanisms and polymer synthesis for a permanent full time position in Winnipeg, Canada. Additional expertise in organic chemistry and organic synthesis would be considered an asset. Responsibilities: Assists in the conceptualization and design of novel compounds building on the Company’s existing intellectual

property Advises on molecular design to efficiently integrate novel compounds into existing polymer systems Assists in the selection of polymer systems for development specific to end use applications, considering all

mechanical, chemical, and functional requirements which the resulting coating must achieve Translates customer needs into product development projects Plans and executes laboratory and pilot plant research projects Supports the technology transfer from laboratory and pilot plant to commercial scale Writes or assists in writing and submission of patent applications Keeps abreast of pertinent new developments and patents and provides executive summaries and comments

to management Directs the activities of technicians engaged in development projects Interacts with a multi-functional, multi-skilled team to achieve integrated output of project results

Skills & Abilities: In depth knowledge of polymer systems and curing mechanisms, in particular resin coatings Ability to plan and carry out development projects modifying polymer systems for industrial applications Plan and carry out a range of experiments primarily in the laboratory but potentially also in industrial settings Develop new coating process/binder formulation/chemistry to meet development objectives Optimizing parameters set out by the use case such as processing conditions, mechanical properties, chemical

resistance, and functional performance of a coating; Characterize a coated/modified surface to quantify relevant properties of the coating Familiarity with and ability to carry out test protocols from ASTM, ISO and other standards organization Analyzing and evaluating statistical data and researching scientific literature Writing reports and scientific papers, presenting findings to the management team Assisting with product development by making recommendations to balance potential benefits against risks Track record of executing fundamental material science research from idea generation to commercialization
