“Historically this region has always had a strong and vibrant culture rich in the visual arts and Cheltenham Open Studios continues this tradition. I am immensely encouraged that undaunted by an era of cuts, this collective of artists from many different groups and disciplines are supporting one another and the community bringing this exciting celebration of creativity for us all to enjoy.”

PJ Crook, Patron, Cheltenham Open Studios

WELCOME to COS11, our seventh celebration of the visual arts in Cheltenham and the surrounding area. This is the event that invites you to get up close and personal with the art — into the studios, workrooms and exhibition spaces of the many talented artists that create it.

We’ve worked hard to cluster artists and venues together, making it easier to get to see more of the wonderful work on show. It’s more involving, too — more hands-on workshops, talks and demonstrations.

We’re encouraging the next generation of talent to get involved, as well. In addition to the all-age workshops at Christ Church and St. Luke’s, Glenfall Primary School will be hosting a mini art festival, on both Saturdays, that includes the always-popular Kidzart workshops.

We hope you enjoy visiting the venues; it really is a relaxed and informal way to view art. And thank you for supporting the visual arts locally.

Arabella Kiszely, Chair, Cheltenham Open Studios

P.S. For an original art bargain, head to Christ Church or St. Luke’s and our Small Art sale. Specially commissioned from artists taking part, each 5˝ x 5˝ piece costs just £5.

A word of thanks

Molly Abbott, Arabella Kiszely (Chair), Sylvia Lauder (Treasurer), Gillian Lever, Roy Marshall, Sue Ratcliffe, Nikki Seville, Annette Turner (Secretary).
