approximate arrival time in their area.

Before leaving the checkpoint, make sure you can find each Bonus location and have a clear understanding of what is required to earn the bonus.

In order to be scored, you must present this bonus listing with score sheet and fuel log. You are free to tear apart and remove any pages that are not needed (for example, on page 10, you decide you will skip all the bonuses in South America, you may remove that page). However, if you lose a page from the bonus listing you may not claim any bonuses on that page. If you lose the score sheet it may be replaced at the next checkpoint but it will cause you to receive a 1,000point penalty. If you lose a fuel log page there is also a 1,000 point penalty to obtain a replacement.

IMPORTANT CAUTION: The following Potential Bonus locations are like a restaurant menu. If you order everything on the menu and eat it, you are going to get sick and perhaps die. Please pick and choose bonus destinations carefully!

Checkpoint Information

The next checkpoint is Friday, August 24, 7 pm to 9 pm

Rally staff will be available at 3 pm for early checkin.

Time penalty begins 7:00:01 p.m. After 7:00:00 p.m. there will be a 50point per minute penalty for being late. "Minutes" will be rounded up at one second past the key time. For example, 7:00:01 (one second past 7:00 p.m.) will be counted as 1 minute late. Any rider who arrives after 9 p.m. (9:00:01 p.m.) will not receive credit for making this checkpoint, will not receive bonus points for this leg of the rally, and may not collect bonus points for the next leg of the rally.

Bonus listings will be handed out at 4:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2007 for the next leg of the rally. Riders may depart upon receipt of paperwork.

10,000 points total to obtain points for fuel purchase records; riders must submit a receipt for every fuel purchase with the following information on the receipt: 1) location (city/town and state), 2) date, 3) time, and 4) volume (gallons or liters) purchased.

If any of the required information is not printed on a receipt, it must be hand written on the receipt. Any error in the printed date should also be corrected by hand. (Errors in the printed time need not be corrected IF YOU ARE KEEPING A FUEL LOG.) Also write the telephone number of the station on the receipt if you correct an error other than a time error. WARNING: To receive credit for this bonus, you must take a picture of the motorcycle you entered the rally with in front of said landmark. If you obtained a replacement motorcycle during the rally, you may NOT earn this bonus.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Should any road closure block your way, you will NOT earn this bonus. Weather and other conditions leave you entirely at risk. Many miles of this road are unpaved dirt and sand subject to being impassable in both poor and good weather. If you make it back, we will try to have duct tape and JB Weld available so you have a fighting chance of putting your motorcycle back together for the second leg!

Travel east on the Trans Labrador Hwy (Route 500) to the town of Happy ValleyGoose Bay. At the intersection of Route 500 and Route 520 (first pavement) you will see a sign indicating Happy Valley to the right and Goose Bay & North West River to the left. Turn left onto 520 (also known as Hamilton River Road). Travel 2.1 kilometers to the traffic light. Photo #1: Take a picture toward the flowerpots (these are tall pinnacle rock formations located approximately 100 yards after you reach the bottom of the wooden steps) as you are walking toward the flowerpot formations. Photo #2: Walk out to one of the ‘flowerpots’ at Hopewell Rocks, place your ID flag on any of the flowerpots and take a photo of a flowerpot.

WARNING: This bonus requires a short walk across the ocean floor; however, the footing is treacherous and should not be attempted unless the water has subsided during a low tide. Tides in this area are extreme and fast changing, rising 6 to 8 feet per hour! According to Hopewell Rocks Park information, it is possible to make the walk approximately 3 hours before low tide up to 3 hours after low tide.

NOTE: The park may be closed, however, access to the formations is not restricted. Caution: As the tide turns and starts to flow once more, it can rise between 6 and 8 vertical feet per hour! At the Hopewell Rocks, it is safe to explore the ocean's floor from 3 hours before low tide, to 3 hours after. You may only walk out during low tide! The tides at the Bay of Fundy are rapid and extremely dangerous. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF THE TIDE IS NOT OUT!!!!!

Located on the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Hopewell Rocks is approximately 23 miles south of Moncton. From Moncton, follow Fundy signs south on NB114 and turn left into Hopewell Rocks. At the end of the drive is a stairwell down to the ‘flowerpots’.
