CHECK YOURPV MODULE PROGRAMME
From Power to Profit
In Malaysia, the drive to enhance the share of renewables in
electricity generation has led to an increase in large scale solar (LSS)
farms. Owners, installers and investors of such solar PV projects
should bear in mind that the quality of all solar PV modules will
degrade over a period of time. Generally, manufacturers’ declaration
on the degradation value is around 20 percent over 25 years.
This rate of degradation may be faster than the rate declared by the
manufacturer. Tests carried out by SIRIM QAS show that the
performance of some modules diminishes by 30 to 40 percent, just
after four years of operations.
In order to safeguard the interests of owners, installers and investors,
SIRIM QAS is introducing a new programme called ‘Check Your PV
Module’ where we verify the performance of your PV modules.
A Test of Time – Check Your PV Module Programme
Want to enhance investor confidence in your solar PV project? Assure them of the
quality and longevity of your solar PV modules with SIRIM QAS’ verification tests. Based
on international standards, it will determine a PV module’s ability to operate according to
specified ratings for extended periods of times. SIRIM QAS ‘Check Your Module’
verification protects you from poor investments by subjecting specified PV modules to a
variety of simulated tests to measure the rate of degradation, output performance and
resilience against high-voltage stress and environmental impact. So do not wait until it
is too late; check your module today.
We conduct environmental tests based on relevant requirements of IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 standard to
simulate a module’s rate of degradation, output performance as well as resilience against environmental
stress.
We conduct Potential Induced Degradation (PID) tests based on the IEC TS 62804-1 standard to simulate a
module’s rate of degradation, output performance as well as resilience against high-voltage stress.
Fee starting from RM20,000
Electroluminescence
Imaging & Inspection
Performance and
Degradation Test
Safety Test
To inspect mechanical and electrical
defect.
To measure the performances of the
module and its degradation ratio against
potential induced test
To ensure the safety of the modules from
electrical leakages.
Scope of Testing Objectives of Testing
This programme is recommended for:
Pre-shipment – Applicable to manufacturers, buyers, importers,
agents, etc.
Pre-acceptance – Applicable to investors, solar farm owners,
financial institutions, insurance companies, etc.
Pre-installation – Applicable for installers, etc.

SIRIM QAS is an internationally recognised Conformity Assessment Body with years of experience in providing testing, inspection and certification services to both local and international customers.
SIRIM QAS is also accredited by STANDARDS MALAYSIA under the MS ISO/IEC 17065 for Product Certification. Our highly experienced, professional and competent auditors in a wide range of sectors are ready to guide companies through meticulous certification processes, demonstrating full compliance with standard and certification requirements.
We have gained accreditation and recognition as an International Test House from STANDARDS MALAYSIA under the National Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (SAMM) based on the requirements of MS ISO/IEC 17025. Our test report carries both SAMM and ILAC MRA logo.
Benefits of Programme
Acquire independent assurance on PV module performance over a long period of time in
accordance with manufacturer ratings.
Verifications tests protect you from risks associated with sub-standard PV modules such as monetary
losses.
Proof of verification increases investment opportunities form investment funds and financial institutions.
Plans and designs based on verification results are more likely to function as intended.
SIRIM QAS - Building Lasting Moments
We carry out verification tests which involve visual checks for mechanical defects such as cracks or black
spots as well as output performance tests against manufacturer specifications to confirm performance of the
modules according to the related requirements in IEC 61215.
Fee starting from RM 750
Electroluminescence
Imaging & Inspection
Performance Test
To inspect mechanical and electrical
defect.
To measure the performances of the
module.
Scope of Testing Objectives of Testing
The test is recommended for periodic performance verification of the
installed PV module. It can be used for preventive monitoring,
degradation level verification and output monitoring.
