“Be nice boys,” said Billy and Jimmy’s mom as she dropped them off at school.

During recess that day, Billy and Jimmy saw a girl playing with toys in the schoolyard.

Ignoring their mother’s advice, Billy and Jimmy went over and broke all the girl’s toys.

They didn’t do this without getting caught, however. The gym teacher, Miss Dodge, saw them and had to punish them.

She made them clap erasers after school in all the classrooms.

While they were clapping erasers, they saw the coolest ball they had ever seen on Miss Dodge’s desk. It was shiny and silver.

Miss Dodge thought the boys did such a good job that she wanted to reward them.

Miss Dodge didn’t know what to do. There was only one ball and she wasn’t sure if the two brothers would be able to share it without fighting over it.

She decided that the only fair way is for the two boys to have friendly competition. She told each of them to get a team together for a dodge ball game. The winner of the game would get the ball.

The brothers agreed to this idea and set out to find the best players for the dodge ball game. They had to be in the gym with their teams in one week.

A week later, Billy and Jimmy were in the gym with their teams.

And so the dodge ball game began, with Miss Dodge as the judge.

Both teams were doing really well. During the game, Billy got hit pretty hard in the arm with the ball. His arm hurt, but he didn’t tell anyone.

Jimmy’s team won the game, and Miss Dodge gave him the ball.

Then she saw that Billy had a hurt arm.15

Billy was taken to the hospital where they found out that his arm was broken.

Jimmy felt bad for his brother. Jimmy said that the ball caused all this and it would be best if neither brother had it, so he gave it to the boy in the next hospital bed.

Jimmy and Billy learned something from this. They learned not to let anything get in the way of their friendship.
