LIFE CAST MASKS - TO VENICE SHORT FILM The villains of this film lured narcissistic men into their house and ‘stole’ their faces.
These masks are the stolen faces which were hung on the wall as grisly trophies. Chromatic dental alginate powder was mixedwith water and Vaseline was applied to thesubject’s face as a release agent.
The alginate liquid was quickly poured overthe subject’s face taking care to avoid nostrils.
Several layers of wet plaster bandages were applied to the set alginate surface.
After 30 mins curing time the mold was carefully removed from the subject’s face.
After curing overnight, the inside of the moldwas smeared with vaseline as a release agent.
A thin layer of plaster/water mixture was poured into the mould. This was reinforcedwith several layers of plaster bandages.
After curing overnight, the plaster mask was removed from the mold.
Acrylic paint was applied to the surface of themask in layers using a sponge.

CAT PUPPET - PUSS IN BOOTS PANTOMIME Brunton Theatre, East Lothian Council, Musselburgh

The puppet is operated bymeans of a glove glued intothe head.
Body - machine-stiched faux fur.
The mouth opens and closes. The limbs move freely.
CAT PUPPET Puss in Boots Pantomime
1) I modelled a master pattern in clay.
2) I fitted metal scrims down the middle of the master to create a two-part mould. 3) Then I coated each half in layers of jesmonite soaked cloth.
4) The two halves of the mould we extracted from the clay master and secured together.
5) The expanding foam came in two separate parts in liquid form.
I carefully measured the required ratio of each and poured it into the mould.
6) Once the foam had cured, I painted the face, attached faux fur to the head and
made ears from pieces of foam.
