In addition to Charles County, the state of

Maryland has 16 school systems with a

2.0 GPA requirement.

Along with Charles County, some school

districts accept (1) failing grade within a

marking period.

Other districts have no failing grade

requirement within a marking period.

Summary of Academic Support

Provided for the Student-Athlete

Team study halls prior to scheduled practice and lunch hour.

Weekly/bi-weekly grade reports are required of all student athletes.

Student-Athletes with academic issues meet with coaches, athletic

director, teacher and or grade counselor to devise a plan for academic

improvement.

Coaches assign mentors within their own team to assist with tutoring.

Parents are contacted by coaches and or athletic director to discuss

academic issues.

Student-Athletes may be withheld from practice or game for additional

tutoring from their teacher/teachers.

Coaches and athletic directors monitor interim reports of all student-

athletes.

After school SAT/ACT prep programs are provided.

Grade recovery programs and Saturday schools are offered.
