If you are searching for a best friend, Chardham Yatra is the first step
towards it. However, make sure to start your journey with complete
belief. The amazing statement ‘Doubt your doubts and believe your
beliefs’ truly goes with this auspicious journey. This is the best way to
attain Moksha or Salvation. Hindus hold a belief that this yatra washes
away all our sins that we have done in our egoistic life. Chardham tour
is the best way to attain solace. Today, devotees not only from India
but also outside the country become a part of it in order to acquire the
inner peace. The Yatra includes the four homes of God including
Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Yamunotri – Land of Goddess Yamuna
Yamunotri, termed to be the seat of Goddess Yamuna, is the first
covered destination of the Chardham Yatra. This is the spot where the
holy river, Yamuna originates. The Yamunotri Temple was built by
Maharani Gularia of Jaipur in the 19th century. This religious shrine
was destroyed twice and was rebuilt again. Divya Shila, the rock pillar
holds a spiritual significance and said to be worshipped before entering
the temple. Innumerable Thermal springs are found outside the temple
of which Surya Kund is known for its healing powers.
Gangotri – Land of Goddess Ganga
Named after River Ganges, the site is the home of Goddess Gangotri.
This is the second destination of the yatra. The Gangotri Temple is the
prime charm of the place and it is situated on the right side of the
Bhagirathi. Built in 18th century, the Gangotri temple was constructed
by Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa. Be a part of the evening aarti
as this is very special.
Kedarnath – Land of Lord Shiva
Kedarnath, the home of Lord Shiva is the third destination of this
pilgrimage tour. There lies an elevated statue of 3584 meters of Lord
Kedar. The Kedarnath Dham is also referred to be Shankaracharya
Samadhi. The temple, besides being impressive, is also famous for 12
Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva situated amidst the backdrop of the
Kedarnath range.
Badrinath – Land of Lord Vishnu
The final spot, dedicated to Lord Badrinarayan is one of the most
critical destinations of the journey. Badrinath, surrounded by Nar-
Narayan Parvat is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is considered to be an
important temple of the four Dhams. This aspiring temple is divided
into three categories: The Garbha Griha featuring 15 idols with a high
image of Lord Vishnu, the Darshan Mandap where auspicious pujas
are conducted and the Sabha Mandap where devotees devote their time
in offering prayers and performing rituals.
