Appearance: Elantia is below-average in height

and slender of build. She has green eyes and

dark hair, which she keeps cropped somewhere

between her chin and shoulders. She appears

withdrawn and quiet. She initially appears

melancholy, but smiles easily and laughs with

warmth.

She is generally attired in a peasant blouse or

sweater over a floor-length thick woolen skirt.

She always wears a black velvet choker around

her neck. She goes barefoot as long as the

weather allows it.

Elantia smells faintly of vinegar, which she

covers up with other scents to varying degrees

of success.

Mental

Elantia is a contradiction between old-world upbringing and modern freedom. Her instincts are

toward conservative thought and traditionalism, though she is quick to overcome them in favor of

practicality. Even so, she is very reluctant to speak of private or indecent subjects in public. That

doesnt mean she has anything against these subjects necessarily, just that shes

uncomfortable speaking of them in public.

Elantia is more wise than intelligent, often failing to grasp modern things. She avoids technology

when possible, embracing a more archaic lifestyle. She tends toward the matronly, looking after

people and taking care of needs rather than taking the lead. She is adamantly pacifist toward

other vampires, avoiding violence even at the expense of her own safety. She does not actively

speak out against the violence of others, but she does not hide her distaste of its perpetrators.

Because of the culture she came from, Elantia is much more comfortable dealing withexchanges than giving or taking anything for free. It doesnt have to be a completely equitable

exchange, though those are much preferable. She is slowly overcoming this since this does not

work well within the City, but she still has a strong preference for it.

Extraordinary

Elantia is a penanggalan, a breed of vampire first

surfacing in Malaysia hundreds of years ago. They are

created from deaths involving strong emotional turmoil.Their heads detach from their bodies, which have the

ability to fly - though Elantia does not possess this ability.

They are unaffected by sunlight. They feed on children -

born and unborn. Elantia is revolted by this need, and

feeds as seldom as possible. She stays as far away from

children as possible, because the hunger grows insatiable

when she is around one.

In addition to her vampirism, Elantia sees Kamuy - spirits

inherent in everyday objects and concepts. Some arecapable of intelligent speech, while others are not - this

ability seems unrelated to their size. They are not visible

to most people, so its unclear if they actually exist or if

she is simply seeing things.

History Synopsis

Cailin was born to a group of Irish Travellers

near the beginning of the Great Famine. She

struggled to keep her Kamuy sightings a secret

from her family, who disapproved of it in the

extreme and thought it to be witchcraft. She

continued to sneak away at times, and her

husband caught her unawares. In a fit of rage

and fear, he used a logging axe to behead her

from behind, leaving her for dead. Instead, the

episode transformed her into a penanggalan.

Realizing that she could not return to her

family, Cailin left Ireland and began travelling

across Europe. Taking the alias Elantia, shespent her time fleeing hunters and seeking

someplace she could live in safety.

After losing her most recent partner, Julia,

Elantia sought protection with a traditional

vampire named Adrian. Eventually, however,

hunters tracked them down. Adrian was killed,

and Elantia was badly beaten and wounded.

With his last breath, Adrian told her of a place called Ravenblack City. She traveled to the City

and took up residence in an old abandoned hall.

After experiencing a vision her first night there, Elantia found that the location was highly

psychoactive, enabling visitors to confront their own demons and seek answers through insight.

She christened the place Lumineux, building it into a retreat with cells for contemplation. She

currently splits her time between caring for the building and serving bar at a local tavern.

Plot Hooks

- When Elantia smiles too widely, light sparkles on a fang that was chipped during a violentepisode outside of the City. She will be more likely to answer privately.

- Elantia will often take a glass of water but not drink from it. Closer inspection will reveal that she

often watches the contents and even murmurs to it quietly. Shes actually speaking with the

kamuy inside. Again, Elantia will be more likely to be forthcoming about the subject in private.

- Elantia waits bar specifically to meet people. It would be pretty easy to just order a drink and

strike up a conversation about less-sensitive topics. Keep in mind that more-sensitive ones

would require privacy.
