• A Student’s Happy Song…

The following reflection by Janis Daniels expresses her phenomenal growth in emotional intelligence and categorically confirms that “Where there is great love, there are miracles!”

• A Student’s Happy Song…

“I believe the number one thing I improved on this year is judging people by their outer appearance. (#5) Before when I used to see someone with something ugly on, I would actually go up to them and tell them what I thought! Now I don’t even judge in my head. All I can do is love, love, love! To me, criticism is now a disease.”

“Second, before Mrs. LaField came into my life, I had a temper problem. (#2) Like if my brothers said something mean to me, I would go off on them and start yelling rude stuff in their faces. Now when they’re mean, I ignore them and move on.”

• A Student’s Happy Song…

“Last year, becoming a better person was not important to me at all. (#4) All I cared about was how I looked. Honestly, I did not care about improving my grades. I thought, it’s a C-. I’ll just keep it that way. Now, when I get a C, all I can think about is improving it.”

• A Student’s Happy Song…“Also, I now try to improve my attitude at home and with my brothers. (#27) As Mrs. LaField always says, it takes Baby Steps. In other words, little by little, we make our dreams come true. For example, when I set a goal now and I make a mistake on it, I always remember Baby Steps. Today when I set out to improve something about myself and I do it, I am the happiest girl in the world!”

• A Student’s Happy Song…“A little while back I had absolutely no feelings for people I didn’t know. If someone I didn’t know came up to me, I ignored them. (#6) These days I talk right back and make friend with them! That, of course, is a Right Heart decision. I have learned this year that to make friends I have to be a friend, and I am so pleased with my improvements. Mrs. LaField basically went inside me and replaced my heart with a bright red one with no ugly colors left in it!”
