Chapter XXIX Newsletter
New Chapter Meeting Format: Special guest speaker Maj. Jen Gotie Civil Affairs and Maj. Ray Porter, SF kicked
off our new meeting format in style. This presentation was in an open discus-
sion format where they started and we asked lots of questions. We learned
about the female soldiers and Civil Affairs role and partnership with the current
teams that are in villages throughout the world. Without the joint effort every-
one is putting into this, the outcome would be much different. Everyone has a
role to play and that makes a huge positive difference.
Next Meeting is August 11th.
Come and hear what our next
special guest speaker has to say.
Student Meet and Greet is July 6th. We have a chance to meet the incoming students at CGSC Ft. Leavenworth on
July 6th at the Havana Club Ft. Leavenworth KS at 4pm. Same place as last
year. The Havana Club is located on the back side of the Hoge Barracks com-
plex. Directions are enter through the main gate on Grant. Second street on
your left is Iowa, turn left. The next street on your right, turn right. Havana
Beach Club is on your right and parking on your left. If you need assistance
from your car call 816-213-8639 and we will send some strong bodies to help
you.
At this time this is a good date, but as you remember things in the Army do
change. Please stay tuned to your e-mails for any date or location changes.

From Chuck Theusch: Am here in Hanoi en-route to HCMC
(Saigon), will be returning to the USA 10 May. SGT Maj Ross Worley
and I completed first return to Nam Dong and the Nam Dong Library
and Learning Center. It is in great shape and being used by the commu-
nity.
More than that, we believe we have a plan for introduction of English Language Learning at the Library/
Learning Center through San Diego State University. Thanks, to a Ross’s business connection, they sent a
delegation here which we took to Nam Dong 26 April. More details after I return to the states.
The story of the Library is starting to appear in several monthly publications. Avila College/University
Alumni has published an article that was sent out to some 17,000 alum of the University. The DROP did
publish an article and photo’s in the Chapter input section. We are hoping for a more detailed article in the
next DROP. Material on the Library and the December 2011 trip will be taken to the Special Forces Asso-
ciation Convention in Fayetteville NC in June. We hope to display our efforts to those attending the conven-
tion.
Last minute update:
The 2020 Project has be established. The Vietnam Government has established that every Vietnamese in
Vietnam will be able to understand and speak basic English by 2020. This program has already received fund-
ing and two very important Vietnamese Doctors are chairs of this project. We can thank the Nam Dong Li-
brary and Learning Center for this program. The government looked at how we pulled together and got in-
volved in the education of the locals in Nam Dong. So you can say we are why the 2020 Project was estab-
lished. More on this later.
Be Proud of Yourselves. You Did This. You Have Made a Change In The World.

Return Service Requested
Exercise For People Over 60
1. Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
2. With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as
long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
3. Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, Move up
to 10-lb potato bag.
4. Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each
hand and hold your arms straight for more then a full minute. (I’m at this level.)
5. After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.
