Director's ReportI hope you're getting some saddle time. July

has been good to us for the most part. A little too hotfor the first couple of weeks but at least the monsoonrains have quit. We had 3 rides scheduled for July andthey were all excellent. The Chapter's 14th annualRockton Chicken Run on July 7th was really a niceride. We had 14 bikes and 19 people leave Monona ona beautiful sunny morning. Randy led us up toRockton, arriving at about noon. The chicken wasexcellent, as always, and the ride back took us throughLansing for ice cream. (crossing the much hatedLansing bridge but the ice cream was worth it) OurChapter meeting on July 12th had 8people present.

Gary's ride on July 21st was also a great ride. The weather was sunny and mild. We had 11 bikes and14 people leave Independence at about 10:00 AM for ascenic ride to the famous "Off Shore" restaurant atBellevue. Their service was a little slow but the foodwas excellent. There were scattered showers aroundin the afternoon and I managed to ride into one on theway home but it didn't take long to get through it and

- back into the sunshine.Dave's ride to the National Motorcycle museum

on July 28th was a neat ride. We had a nice brunch atthe Country Junction in Dyersville and then rode to theMuseum in Anamosa. What a great place that is. Ispent about 2 hours there. It is probably 10 timesbigger that the other one was. Almost nothing is ropedoff in this one. You can walk right up to the bikes andlook them over. They just don't want you to touchthem. I'm sure 1'1/ go back again.

The August ride schedule is as full as July'swas. The August 4th LOH ride to Cedar RidgeVineyard at Swisher should be a thirst quencher withan opportunity for a little wine tasting. The guys aresupposed to accessorize with pink that day and thebest effort will get a prize. ( 1'1/ be in Sturgis that daybut my thoughts will be with you) Meet at OelweinKwik Star at 9:00 AM, Randy will lead a group down toOelwein from Postville. They will meet at Postville PitStop at 7:45 AM and ride at 8:00.

The August Chapter meeting will be Friday,August 9th at 6:00 PM at the Dealeship. I knoweveryone gets busy this time of year, but hopefully wecan get the attendance up a little bit.

The Chapter picnic will be Sunday August 11th.We will meet at the Postville Pit Stop at 9:30 AM andride at 10:00. Daryl will lead us on a 2 hour scenic rideending at the Quarry Lodge in Clermont for an indoor"picnic". We plan on taking a Chapter photo that dayso put on a clean shirt.

Randy's Dairy Queen ride will be SundayAugust 25th. Meet at Postville Pit Stop at 10:00 Am,ride at 10:30. No details have been revealed yet but I'msure there will be ice cream involved.

The Patriot Flag ride will be Wednesday,August 28th. We will escort the Patriot Flag toMadison. We will meet at Waukon Harley at 9:00 Am,ride at 9:30. AI Adney has volunteered to carry theflag this year.

On Thursday, August 29th Daryl will lead the110th Anniversary ride to Milwaukee from theDealership. Meet at 9:00 AM, ride at 9:30. We will bereturning the same day.

If you haven't joined us yet on a Chapter ride, what are you waiting for? We always have a great timeand our rides always end with a meal. Plus, thefellowship is fantastic. So come on out and join us.Well, no more news, so have an awesome day andalways remember. Worrying doesn't take awaytomorrow's troubles. It only takes away today's peace.

Happy Riding,

Steve Trumblee, Chapter Directorsmtrumblee eitel.net 563-536-2848
