• Nutrients The substances in food that promote
normal growth, maintenance, and repair in your
body are called nutrients.
• Nutrition Nutrition is the study of how our bodies
use the food we eat to keep us healthy.

• A carbohydrate is a chemical composed of one or
more simple sugars. Carbohydrates can be sugars
or starches.
• Sugars are found in foods such as fruit, honey,
table sugar, candy, and desserts.
