chaplaincy - memorial day 2015
TRANSCRIPT
ON MEMORIAL DAY SUNDAY
May 24, 2015 Honor our Brotherhood VETERANS and ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY
and the CHAPLAINS who minister to them
The CHAPLAINCY ENDORSEMENT COMMISSION (CEC) Endorsing our ministers into the chaplaincy to serve the military and veterans
“They minister to those who serve our country”
Observe Memorial Day Sunday in a Meaningful Way
1. Honor our veterans.
Publicly recognize all veterans in your congregation and, perhaps, in your community. The more personal you can make it, the better. You will contribute to the spiritual, mental and social health of the people you single out. It will be especially supportive of those who have served in the Middle Eastern conflicts.
2. Pray for: · Our people who continue to serve in the military.
Military service is dangerous work, even training exercises. Remember, also, the families of our service members.
· Our country. We need to beware of moving in godless directions.
· Our chaplains. The Chaplaincy Endorsement Com-mission (CEC) has over 140 chaplains and almost half of them serve in the military.
3. Receive a “Land that I Love” offering for the Chaplaincy Endorsement Commission.
The CEC is often overlooked as the organization representing our Christian Churches and Churches of Christ which provides the way for our ministers to serve as chaplains in the military and in civilian life and which encourages them in their work. Our only support comes from the contributions of congre-gations and individuals. The special designated offerings we receive on Memorial Day Sunday help us to continue our vital ministry.
