NOVEMBER 28, 2010

We hope your worship experience with us will be meaningful. To help you feel a bit more comfortable with our campus and morning programs, we have included a few recommendations. We are glad you are here today!

Helpful Information

• We would like to get to know you! Each pew has a Welcome Book in which you can let us know prayer requests, sign up for events and update your information. Please pass the Welcome Book down the row so we can hear from everyone!

• Communion/Lord’s Supper All followers of Christ are welcome to participate in our Service of Communion. If you have prepared yourself for this very special moment with our Savior, you are invited to his table. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30)

• Offering In our first two services, a special time for giving is set aside. Participation is an act of worship and voluntary. During our third service there will not be a time specific for offering but rather boxes are placed at the entry to allow for giving as you are led.

• Nursery We have a friendly, well-staffed and impeccably clean nursery located on the North side of the narthex. Please see an usher for directions.

Memorial Service for Lew Winter

A memorial service for Lew Winter will be held on December 5th at 2:00 in the Sanctuary at Chaparral Christian Church.

Sermon NotesIsaiah 63:19b-64:6

A Translation by Frank Shirvinski

19b (1) If only you would tear open the heavens and come down, so that at your presence the mountains would quake!1(2) As fire kindles brushwood,  or fire makes water boil, make your name known to your adversaries, so that the nations tremble at your presence!

2 (3) When you did wonders for which we did not even hope, you came down, at your presence the mountains quaked! 3 (4) From antiquity they have not heard, they have not given ear, no eye has seen any God except you, who works for the one who waits for him. 4 (5) You meet with one who rejoices and with the one who acts in   righteousness, they remember you in your ways. Look! When you were angry, because we sinned in those ancient  times, we could still be saved.5 (6) All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds like stained undergarments. All of us are withered like a leaf, and our iniquity, like the wind, takes us away. 6 (7)  Yet, no one is calling on your name, Stirring himself to cling to you; for you have hidden your face from us, and melted us into the hand of our iniquity.

Annual Thanksgiving OfferingGenerosity is its own enrichment, and the sincerest

expression of thanksgiving. Generosity increases our faith by causing us to see that we can never be more generous

than God.

This year our annual Thanksgiving offering will be used to meet the benevolence needs that have been greater than

usual. People are in need, and all of us have a desire to help them. The offering will also allow us to meet our

commitments to Hope International University and Emmanuel School of Religion. We ask you to consider your

blessings as you give to this offering!

Envelopes provided for your convenience.

Taste of ChristmasTuesday, December 7, 6:30 in The Commons!

Love Christmas and all the wonderful foods that celebrate the season? Come kick off your holiday with a fun get-together for women of all ages. On Tuesday, December 7, at 6:30 p.m. join us for a taste! Bring one of your favorite Christmas dishes be it salty, sweet or savory to share and come listen to our teen girls as they delight us with the sounds of Christmas as well! Donations to the Suitcase Initiative (providing necessities to children who have “aged out” of the foster care system) are requested, including: toiletries, linens, small first aid kits, socks, personal grooming items (combs, nail clippers, razors, etc.).

Follow the Star This unique outdoor journey to Bethlehem is perfect for all ages.  The drama, the choirs, the precious, live Baby Jesus...all are part of the wonderful Christmas Story which we bring to life for our community, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 10, 11 & 12.  Free!  Invite your family and friends. If you would like to volunteer to help out, register online at www.chaparral.org.

Coming up we have the stuffing of the

Follow the Star bags (call Marilyn at 602-494-9324 to volunteer) as well as lunch and movie on the 18th. Lunch ($3) will be tortilla soup and the movie is “The Shop Around the Corner” a 1940’s James Stuart Film! Make reservations at the south counter on Sunday!
