Significant improvement on motorcycle safety has been achieved in Florida
According for Florida’s Department of Health, between 2008 and 2009
Motorcycle crash fatalities decreased 25% (402)
Hospitalizations decreased 14% (3,278)
Emergency department visits decreased 13% (9,841)
November 3rd, 2011
A comprehensive approach to motorcycle safety is being employed through the Motorcycle Strategic Safety Plan in Florida. The mission of the plan is to dedicate resources to areas where the opportunities for improvement are the greatest.
In order to measure both the opportunities and levels of improvement, evaluation and data collection mechanisms must be in place.
Although significant improvement has been achieved, the numbers of motorcycle‐related fatalities, injuries, and crashes are still high in Florida.
