Irish sportswomen continue to excel on the world stage and are a source of great celebration, inspiration and pride to us all. The success of Irish sportswomen on the track, the ring, the road and the water represent the most successful sustained period in the history of high performance sport in Ireland.

Changing The Game - Irish Women in Sport documents the success of Irish women in sport from the period 2000 to 2015. Its captivating images demonstrate what it really takes to compete at the highest level. From Olympians to inspirational captains and to national champions, these elite sportswomen have excelled across a multitude of sports and continue to be an inspiration to young people across the country.

Increasing womens participation in sport is a key strategic priority. The 2013 Irish Sports Monitor reports that almost 43% of women are regularly taking part in sport; this is the highest

recorded participation rate for women since the ISM was introduced in 2007 and has resulted in a significant narrowing of the gender gap. Participation in sport in Ireland continues to grow to an unprecedented level and we will endeavour to see this positive trend continue.

Irelands sportswomen have made an immense contribution to Irish sport through their sporting achievements. In order to continue the success story of Irish women in sport, Sport Ireland will continue to develop, foster and promote womens sport through the work of the National Governing Bodies and Local Sports Partnerships.
