change the classroom, change the learning
DESCRIPTION
In 2009 we began a redesignplan for two of the classrooms on our campus to encourage student-centered teaching practices. The results were more surprising than weexpected. If you want to change the way instructors teach, you may have to change their environment first.>TRANSCRIPT

Major Variables in Classroom Learning
Instructors
ClassroomStudents
What do the classrooms say?
What instructions do they send to the
students?
Instructors are encouraged to have students engage in
more active learning…
But the classrooms send a very clear
message …
Prepare for Lecture
What if the classroom sends a different
message?

Lots of Whiteboards
