Looking AheadThis past month The Chamber and our communities lost acouple of good friends and great community leaders with thepassing of Bob Brooks and Jean Kiesau. In Bob, the familylost a good husband and father and individually many of uslost a valued friend and advisor. The days are not going to be“just peachy” anymore. Jean was a strong and respectedfigure in the Home of Economy business, a leader and

mentor for many in The Chamber of Commerce and in our communities formany years.

As we are moving through The Chamber year we are starting to accomplish thegoals we had set.

First, we have leased out the North end of The Chamber building to CommunityOptions. A new Chamber member, a new business in the community and avaluable service now provided to the area.

Second, we have selected the new President of The Chamber. He is BarryWilfahrt from Watertown, SD and will be officially begin his duties on April 1st,2008.

We will soon be announcing the when and where of “conversations with themayor and city council members” of each of our Grand Cities. This will providean opportunity for all participants to share ideas for the betterment of ourcommunities.

February, I always find an interesting and enjoyable month. It is interestingbecause two of this countries greatest leaders are remembered for their birthsthis month, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. There is the emotion oflove and joy around Valentines day. Finally it is the shortest month and that hasappeal, even this year with a day more for leap year.

We are looking forward to the annual meeting on Monday, the 25th of Februaryat the Alerus Center. I hope you will be there for the first opportunity to hearfrom our new President, Barry Wilfahrt, participate in the presentation of theHenry Havig Award and enjoy all of the other program items. See page 4 formore information.

Please remember that the more you and your employees are involved with TheChamber activities, the greater the return you’ll see on your membershipinvestment.
