Schaff & Assoc. General Contractor: NGC Group Shoring Subcontractor: Earthworx Geo DESCRIPTION The Capitol Place mixed use building is a new construction, seven- level building with a subterranean parking garage. Excavation Shoring was required on the perimeter of the project for the parking garage. The project design originally called for 576 linear feet of Heliwalls Shoring but it was determined that an adjacent building did not have a basement resulting in a design change to a 211’ x 12’ soil nail/shotcrete wall with 365’ x 8’ of Heliwalls shoring. CHALLENGES The initial challenge was the introduction of a new excavation shoring system to the United States market. Sheet Piling has been the preferred shoring method for excavation shoring projects. The concern of the vibration to the adjacent buildings from installing sheet piling ultimately led to the choice to use Heliwalls Shoring System. The project had multiple challenges and changes due to unidentified obstacles that were discovered. These obstacles resulted in three engineered design changes to the excavation shoring. The design changes put the installation schedule behind due to re-engineering of the shoring and the integration of three different shoring methods. OVERALL PROJECT GOAL • Introduce Heliwalls Shoring System to the U.S. Market • Prove the advantages to the Heliwalls System • Meet the project timeframes • Safe Install • Project Timelines SOLUTION Heliwalls Shoring Systems was used to provide a low-impact and cost-effective solution for the excavation shoring. 365-linear feet of Heliwalls panels were installed in just three days saving NGC group nearly two weeks on their schedule from using traditional sheet piling methods. Heliwalls integrated flawlessly with two other excavation shoring systems due to design changes. The panels were monitored for deflection by a third-party engineering firm. The panel deflection was less than ½” along the entire perimeter during the eleven-month installation time. Heliwalls LLC 222 South 15th St. Suite 1404S Omaha, NE 68102 888-950-5810 HELIWALLS.COM

DESCRIPTIONThe Capitol Place mixed use building is a new construction, seven-level building with a subterranean parking garage.

CHALLENGESThe initial challenge was the introduction of a new excavation shoring system to the United States market.

Market• Prove the advantages to the Heliwalls System• Meet the project timeframes• Safe Install• Project Timelines

SOLUTION Heliwalls Shoring Systems was used to provide a low-impact and cost-effective solution for the excavation shoring.
