From the 1946 introduction of the Eames Moulded Plywood Chair – recognised by Time® magazine as the Best Design of the 20th Century – through to the revolutionary ergonomics of Aeron in 1994, and beyond, Herman Miller has consistently designed and manufactured the world’s best chairs.

Every Herman Miller chair begins with you in mind. We don’t set out to design chairs that are worthy of museum collections, although many of our chairs are. We set out to provide you with a great place to think, to create, to share. We want you to sit well, so you can do more.

Mirra 2 moves with you, at one with your body. When you sit, Mirra 2 adapts to you instantly. Shift, and the Butterfly Back and AireWeave 2 suspension seat dynamically support even your slightest movements. Recline, and the reinvented Harmonic™ tilt provides a smooth, balanced feel.

An athletic attitude and plenty of opportunities for personalisation define Mirra 2’s lean, sophisticated design. The emphasis on performance is visible. The Butterfly Back, a hybrid structure that merges a fabric layer with polymer veins, makes the chair more responsive, while bringing visual lightness to any environment.

Embody Designed by Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber

You feel Embody’s Pixelated Support™ the moment you sit down – a sense that you are floating, yet perfectly balanced. The seat distributes your weight evenly while supporting your body’s micro-movements. The narrow backrest allows you to move freely and naturally as it automatically adjusts to support a full range of seated postures. By reducing seated pressure and encouraging freedom of movement, Embody allows blood and oxygen to flow more freely, which helps keep you focused. Form doesn’t just follow function with Embody. Function is on full display. The chair’s highly technical structures – such as the spinelike BackFit™, with its visible H-flexors – show how it bends to encourage seated movement. Embody is purposeful design that creates harmony between your mind and body, and between your body and work.

Aeron Designed by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick

Aeron’s functionality shows through, contributing to a distinctive look that invites you to sit and experience the chair for yourself. From the transparency of the Pellicle suspension material to the chair’s curvilinear lines, Aeron was designed around people, with Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick creating an aesthetic all their own. It’s no wonder the chair was added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art™ even before the first one was sold. Every material, every mechanism on Aeron advances the art and science of seating. The Pellicle seat and back distribute your weight evenly, eliminating pressure points and heat buildup. The Kinemat® tilt allows you to recline fluidly, as your body pivots naturally at the hips, knees, and ankles. And PostureFit® puts support where you need it most while seated – at the base of your spine.

Sayl Designed by Yves Béhar

Inspired by suspension bridges – structures that deliver the most using the least material – Sayl’s 3D Intelligent® back lets you stretch and move, striking a healthy balance between support and freedom. The elastomer strands vary in thickness and tension to provide greater support along the spine where you need it most, and less everywhere else, so you are free to move.

Sayl’s unframed back and Y-Tower support create a striking visual aesthetic that reveals both the designer’s inspiration and intent. Whether you choose the full-suspension or upholstered back, an expressive colour palette gives you plenty of options for personalising your chair.

Celle Designed by Jerome Caruso

Celle’s patented Cellular Suspension™ system forms a “flex map” that conforms to your unique shape and stature, supporting your spine while giving you freedom to move. The aerated back prevents heat buildup as you sit, and the larger seat offers extra room. Celle’s durable construction makes it ideal for work environments where chairs are shared around the clock.

The unique Cellular Suspension back offers versatility as well as dynamic support. Available in an inspired array of colours, the Cellular Suspension material meets the special cleaning requirements of healthcare environments, making it a popular choice there. For other types of spaces, an upholstered back option opens up a broad range of upholstery fabrics to expand Celle’s aesthetic range.

The colourful, casual way to pull up a chair

CaperDesigned by Jeff Weber

Caper’s moulded polypropylene seat and back are contoured for comfort, flexible for give, and colourful enough to brighten up any room. A series of holes in the plastic allow moisture and heat to dissipate, which keeps you cool. An optional FLEXNET ™ suspension seat uses advanced materials to minimise pressure points, which keeps you comfortable longer.

The perfectly portable chair, Caper is designed to be moved,

making it easy to deploy wherever you need casual, short-term seating. The armless stacking version weighs just 4.3 kg. The multipurpose version features height adjustment, swivel, and tilt to support a broader range of activities. Caper’s versatile colour palette includes vibrant primaries and sophisticated neutrals.

SetuDesigned by Studio 7.5

Setu is Studio 7.5’s solution for today’s more collaborative, less formal workspaces. Material innovation gives the Setu chair its unique combination of flex and strength. The Kinematic Spine™ uses two types of polypropylene to control resistance as you recline and support your weight, without a tilt mechanism. More structural element than textile, the Lyris 2 suspension seat and back conform to your contours and aerate your body as you sit comfortably. Setu’s minimalist, dematerialised design is at home in spaces where different people may use the same chair throughout the day. A range of upholstery options means you can outfit your Setu chairs to stand out or to blend in.
