I care about having West Orange County the best place to live, work and play. I expect the best schools, the best healthcare, an improved roadway system, and the quality of our lakes to be preserved or improved. What do you expect? Your Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee has taken a pro-active approach to communicating our priorities to the Legislature. I have included a brief description of some of the legislative positions that have been presented to our Legislative Delegation: Support Economic Development Incentives of 50% rebate of taxes generated from Convention Center business coming back to the municipality that has ownership of that center; Complete the funding of right of way and construction for widening SR 50 between Avalon and Good Homes Roads; Strongly urge that PECO approves funds to create a joint agreement between UCF and Valencia Community College for a 2+2 curriculum on the Valencia West campus; Tort reform for an individual or a business with a damages claim that they are only partially responsible for - this would create a fair and equitable justice system and abolish joint and several liability; creating a risk pool that will help create reasonable rate health insurance to Florida residents; support legislation that funds School Nurses as part of the infrastructure of each and every public school and immediately increase education funding to accelerate excellence in education including teachers’ pay, capital expenditures and education materials to at a minimum a national average level; support legislation that incentives to better protect natural resources and manage and develop water supplies. On March 28 and 29 the West Orange Chamber is hosting a Capitol Connection Trip to Tallahassee in conjunction with the East Orlando, Seminole County/Lake Mary, Winter Park and Apopka Chambers of Commerce’s. What’s important to you? I care about having West Orange County the best placeto live, work and play. I expect the best schools, the best healthcare, an improved

roadway system, and the quality of our lakes to be preserved or improved. What do you expect? YourChamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee has taken a pro-active approach tocommunicating our priorities to the Legislature.
