Autonomous and Non Autonomous of Engineering Colleges both are necessary for the qualitative technical education in coming years. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages. In these days of competition all engineering colleges are at stake. Reforms are necessary to win in the competition.

Skill development in higher education at all levels is also crucial to the placement, opportunities in the campus. Survival of the fittest holds good. Research and Technology are two sides of the same coin for Engineering Education

Lateral entry of diploma holders in degree education/lateral entry of ITI holders into diploma has posed problems which have to be solved for better quality. Thus opined all the panel members who are the principals of Engineering colleges of Hubbali, Dharwad and Haliyal

Prof. Aravind Kulkarni Coordinator National Design and Research Foundation and Director Planning and Relations KLE Technological University anchored the panel discussions with questions and providing audience also to ask questions. PANEL DISUCSSION ON FUTURE OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION

7 ET - Talk

In the September issue of ET TALK our Chairman Dr. M.R.Kappali wrote a wonderful article on Education : A Business. Until reading this article I was also under the impression and opinion that Education is a sacred and noble profession. This article made me to think education can be a business.

But still now a day's education is taking a shape of bad business, which was earlier a good business (VIDYA DANA) and hence let us aim at making education a good business.

Power NewsSOLAR PANELS SURPASS COAL FIRED GENERATION IN UNITED KINGDOM

Prof. Pratapsinh K. Desai, President Indian SocietyFor Technical Education, New Delhi visited The Institution of Engineers (India), Dharwad Local Centre on 01.10.2016

Er. R. S. Doddamani

For Six months until September, more electricity came

from sunlight than coal fired power stations in the UK. The solar

generated nearly 7000 gigawatt hours of electricity between April

and September, about 10 per cent more than 6300 gigawatt hours

produced by coal during the same period. The figures represent a

dramatic turnaround in the UK's electricity supplies. The first ever

day when solar produced more than coal was only on 9 April-when

there was no coal fired electricity for the first time since 1882.But

then May became the first ever month when this happened. In our

country also this may become a reality after 5-6 years.
