To the deliberating members of the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students,
nugss
This letter asserts that the Northern Undergraduate Student Society (NUGSS), has recent ly
reviewed UNBC Environmental Engineering Association' s (EESA) proposal on the Conference on
Sustainability in Engineering. At their most recent meeting, the NUGSS Board of Directors affirmed their
I am wri ting to state that the program in Environmental Engineering at BC will provide I' support for the event, and agreed to waive rental and other associated fees for the duration of the
event in the Northern University Student Centre. This would be a waiver with a value of over $1500. support for the conference as propo ed by our Environmental Engineering tudent ssoc1atton (EE A). This new conference - propo ed by the anadian Federation of Engineering tudents -fi t extremely well with the mandate of BC and our a pi rational goal of being a University focused on en ironmentally sustainable development. Indeed, the environment is a critical cornerstone of our five year Academic Plan. ustainability studie , aero a number of disciplines, is increasingly anchoring ome of our stronge t degree programs and institutional initiatives.
The program (or "department" in more common niver ity terms) will provide as much upport as it can toward the conference th rough monetary contribution (minimum I 000) and in-kind donation of space and facilities. We are particularly proud of EE A a it i a highly functional organization which engages in many activitie both on campus. in the community, and at a provincial and national level. EE A fundrai e exten ively in order to support student participating in variou competitions and this ha helped to en ure our tudents do well at all level . Indeed. EE A ha even ent a winning team to international competitions.
I am sure the conference will be a succe if organized by our student association. They are more than capable when it come to handling such an e ent with a highly motivated and effective executive. The program upport their bid and will do as much as it can to support EE A if they are the successful applicant. If I may be of further as i tance in your adjudication , please do not hesitate to contact me.
incerely..
