CMA certification has two part - Part 1 and Part 2 (4 hours per part)Degree is not necessary to attempt the exam.

Both parts to be cleared within 3 years of registration for CMA.

Exam windows will be held open in below given months:

• January and February • May and June • September and October • CMA Exams are administered by Prometric which has centres all over

the world. You’ll have to schedule your exams atleast 72 hours prior (It is advisable to schedule atleast 4 week in advance)

To become CMA Certified

You should have a:

• Membership in IMA

• Graduation from an accredited university

• Two years of relevant experience

• Pass in CMA Exams (Part1 & Part2)

Average Salary of a CMA Designated Accountant is 15 Lakh Per Annum as per IMA Salary Survey.

How to become US CMA Certified:

To become a US CMA certified you have to be a graduate from any stream except arts. A final year graduate student can also pursue CMA, however he/she will require to be a graduate along with two years of relevant experience to attain the certification.

If all the above mention criteria are fulfilled, here are the steps to be followed:

1. Register with IMA.

Both professionals and students can register with IMA (it is a crucial step). There will be a nominal fee for registration. Student’s membership is beneficial and comparatively inexpensive.

2. Payment of examination fee.

The examination fees once paid will be valid for three years. Both part exams i.e.; Part 1 and Part 2, should be cleared in this tenure. If, somehow you are unable to pass the exam in the given tenure, you’ll need to repay the fees which will again be valid for three years.

3. Enrol with a premiere training institute

Since you have a limited time after registering for the exam, you must take full advantage of that time. 4. Schedule the exam.

Once both parts of the CMA exams are cleared, you are eligible to add Certified Management Accountant to your name, provided you have maintained an active membership with IMA and have paid the annual maintenance fee. Note: If you already have two years of relevant work experience, you can immediately avail the CMA from IMA after clearing both parts exam. If you are a fresher, you need to complete two years as a finance or accounts professional to attain the membership.

The MoU enables recognition of the professional qualification of the respective Institutes. A member of ICWAI can get enrolled as a member of IMA (US) and vice versa.
