DIRECT DRIVE ROTARY VANE PUMPSMO/CO 30-200, PO 70-400 AND PO 500-1000 SERIES
The pump has to be installed exclusively by authorized staff. Handle with care.
WARNINGFor food applications the pumps (even when NSF listed or WRAS approved) need to be sanitized by circulating water at 80 °C (176 F) for at least 20 minutes. The water used for this operation must not be reused, either during the sterilization or later.I t is recommended not pu l l ing out the two protection sponge caps placed on the inlet and outlet of the pump before mounting the fittings and connecting the pipes, to avoid the incidental entrance of any solid extraneous object which might damage the internal components of the pump. The Fluid-o-Tech PO, MO and CO rotary vane pumps look identical in their shape, within each range, although the flow rates are different. For this reason, in case of replacement, you should make sure that the flow rate of the new pump is the same of the previous pump you had. Changing the pump with a model of different capac-ity may damage the system, the motor and the pump itself. The “CO” series pumps are not equipped with weep holes, therefore the normal condensation may not evaporate. In this case it is necessary coupling the pump to a motor with 4 holes at 90° in the coupling area.If continuous operation is needed, the unit has to be mounted in an airy space in order to dissipate the heat produced by the motor. The pump must be mounted horizontally. To avoid noise and vibrations of mechanical parts, it’s advisable to mount the motor on rubber shock-absorbing supports. The use of the dumper coupling kit for 48YZ frame motors (92-80-04) is suggested in order to grant a proper alignment between the pump and the motor.
MOUNTING THE PUMP ONTO THE MOTORa) Motor with clamp mounting (type 48YZ)• Make sure themotor is unplugged from the

USEFUL TIPS FOR A LONG LASTING LIFE OF THE ROTOFLOW PUMPSTheRotoflowpumpisdesignedtohandlecleanfluidsonly.Itisnecessaryforthisreasontoinstallbeforethepumpa10µmfilterwithafilteringareabigenough,soasnottocauseflow-pressurelossesinthecircuit.Place the filterat least50cmbefore the inletportofthepumpinordertoavoidcavitation. It is also important to check periodically the filtercartridge.Inordertokeepthefilterundercontrol, it isadvisable to install a vacuumgaugebefore and afterthefilter.Incasethevacuumincreasesmorethan0.1bar,thecartridgeshouldbecleanedorchanged.A dirty filter, which doesn’t allow enough flow ofliquid through it, causes cavitation and fast wearof the pump. For the pumpwith a built-in filter it’srecommended the periodic cleaning of the filterwithalcoholandcompressedair. If thefilter isexternal it’snecessarytocleanitortoreplaceitperiodically. The rotary vane pumps are self-priming, but thedry runningmay cause overheating and failure ofthemechanical seal and internal components andthereforepossibleleaks. Before operation it is advisable to pour little waterinto the pump to keep the seal areawet in the firstsecondsofoperation. If the line is subject to scarce pressure or flow it isnecessary to fit a low pressure switch before thepumpinordertoswitchthemotoroffincaseofwatershortage. In order to avoid cavitation, if the tank is atatmospheric pressure, do not install the pumpmorethan1mabovethemaximumliquidlevelofthetank.It is also necessary to protect the system fromincidental overpressureswith safety devices such asapressurereliefvalveorapressureswitchconnectedtothemotor.Ifpossibleit’sadvisabletoinstallthepumpascloseaspossibletothetank.The bypass valve is set at 12 bar (170 psi) unlessotherwiserequested.
The bypass valve is a relief valve andmust not beusedasaflowregulator. Ifusedasaflowregulator, thewater in excesswill recirculate inside the pumpheating and accelerating the deposit of limestone
on thepumpcomponents.Themaximumdifferentialpressureshouldbeat least3bar (43psi) lower thanthe bypass valve setting in order to avoid operationwiththebypassvalveopen.Themaximumdifferentialpressuremustnotexceed16bar(230psi).

DIMENSIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE MOTOR FOR A CORRECT COUPLING WITH THE ROTARY DIRECT DRIVE FLUID-O-TECH PUMPS
CONNECTING THE PUMP TO THE CIRCUIT
The circuit should be carefully flushed beforeconnectingthepump.
It’s strongly recommendedusing, on the inlet port ofthepump, pipes andconnectionsof suitable size forthepumpcapacity,(8mmfor“CO30-200”pumpswithcapacitiesupto150l/h,10mmfor“PO70-400”seriespumpswith capacitiesup to500 l/h, 15mm for “PO500-1000”pumpswithcapacitiesupto1000l/h.Thepumps-although identical in theiraspect–mayhaveGASorNPT threadedports. WIRING THE MOTOR TO THE POWER SUPPLY• The power supply must be consistent with the
electrical data stamped on themotor plate, withparticularregardtovoltageandfrequency.
Thepowersupplyneeds tobeswitchedoffduringinstallation.
• Themotor rotationmust be clockwise (looking themotorinfront).
If operated counter-clockwise, thepumpwon’twork. In case the rotation is counter-clockwise, proceedaccording to the scheme generally enclosed in theelectricalwiringbox.
• If the pump fails or some estraneous object entersit, the pump-motor unitmay stop orwork in criticalconditions; for this reason themotor should have athermal protection to avoid overheating or a currentprotectiontoavoidoverloading.
OPERATING CONDITIONSForparticularapplications,pleasecontactFluid-o-TechorthenearestauthorizedFluid-o-Techdistributor.
