Ships that operate under theflag of an EU member stateare required to carry life-saving appliances and fireprotection equipmentapproved under theEuropean Marine EquipmentDirective 2014/90/EU (MED,in force since 18.09.2016).The marking of theseproducts uses the “Wheel”conformity mark.  The certification bodySEECERT, operated byTÜV NORD, is designatedby the German FederalMaritime and HydrographicAgency (BSH) as theconformity assessmentbody for the approval oflife-saving appliances andfire protection equipment.
