The Saudi Arabian programme provides assurance to Saudi consumers of the quality and safety of imported goods. Almost every consignment of goods exported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia requires a Certificate of Conformity for its Customs clearance at KSA Ports and Borders.

The programme focuses primarily on safety and quality standards but requirements relating to the Islamic Religion and National culture are also given priority. Compliance with the relevant Saudi or approved international/national standards results in the issue of a CoC prior to shipment.

Intertek is the longest service provider approved by authorities to implement the Conformity Assessment Programme in Saudi Arabia. Intertek is also approved by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) to issue the mandatory cosmetics CoC.

The requirements for Saudi Arabia are:• Every consignment of imported goods

must be accompanied by a Conformity Certificate.

• Certificates of Conformity issued by approved service providers are mandatory for its Customs clearance

• The authorities in Saudi Arabia may take random samples from imported consignments to verify compliance.
