Each action of ours is under con- stant scrutiny for being in confirmation with the laws we are governed by, in- cluding Criminal Law, making it an in- tegral part of our lives. Resource Persons for the course:

Merin Joseph is an IPS officer of 2013 Batch. She has cleared Civil Ser-vice Examination in first attempt. She has done B.A. (Hons) History and M.A (History) from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University. She is the University topper and Gold Medalist in B.A. and M.A. She has studied in Delhi through-out and hail from Kerala. She belongs to Kerala Cadre and is the youngest

IPS officer of Kerala Cadre. She has represented India and has headed the In-dian Delegation at the 2014 Y-20 summit in Sydney, Australia. (Official youth summit of the G-20 countries).

Advocate Mitesh R. Amin is a well-known criminal lawyer with vast lit-igating experience. He has been ap-pointed as the Public Prosecutor for Gov-ernment of Gujarat in 2015. He has repre-sented BJP president, Amit Shah, in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. He has served as the Special Public Prosecutor for State of Gujarat in many of the im-portant cases, one of them being the 2008 Ahmedabad Bomb Blast case. He has also

appeared in Sadiq Jamal and Ishrat Jahan fake encounter cases and the Gulbarg Society massacre case. Besides, he has also practiced extensively on civil and revenue side, making appearances in Gujarat Revenue Tribunal and other fo-rums.

Ashok D. Shah, Senior Advocate, High Court of Gujarat & Former Vice-Chairman, Bar Coun-cil of Gujarat. Advocate Shah is one of the senior most practicing Advocates of the Gujarat High Court with 54 years of extensive experience at different criminal courts in Gujarat. He is also one of the former Vice-Chairmen of the Gujarat Bar Council. He has written many articles on different aspects of criminal law, in-cluding criticisms of Supreme Court judgments. Some of his notable publications include an article titled “Relevancy and Admissibility of Evidences in Crimi-nal Law”, published in many journals including the

Gujarat Law Reporter, a book titled “Criminal Investigation” and article on “Medical Jurisprudence”.

Shriya Maini, Advocate, Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and District Courts, New Delhi. She is a graduate of Gujarat National law University, India and University of Oxford. At Oxford, she completed her Bachelor of Civil Law Programme on a full schol-arship and obtained a Master’s in Law majoring in International Crime. A recipient of the Oxford Global Justice Award 2015 for Public International Law, she is currently assisting the President of the Inter-

national Residual Mechanism for the Criminal Tribunals (MICT).

Anant Deogaonkar is an Assistant Profes-sor of Criminal Law in Gujarat National Law Uni-versity. He has an experience of teaching criminal law for more than a decade. He has submitted sev-eral research projects on criminal law to the Gov-ernment of Gujarat. He has also conducted various training programs in criminal law for the police personnel in Gujarat. He is an eminent academi-cian in criminal law and the coordinator of this course.
