    Centrally Sponsored Schemes1. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA) was approved by the Government of India

    in 2000 for achieving the goal of niversal elementary edcation in a time!bondmanner. It aims to provide sefl and relevant elementary edcation for allchildren in the "!1# age grops by 2010. It lays emphasis on bridging school$regional and gender gaps with the active participation of the commnity in themanagement of schools.

    %he scheme is administered by the &epartment of School 'dcation and iteracy.

    2. National Program of Mid Day Meal(&) was lanched in 1**+ with aview to enhancing enrollment$ retention and attendance and simltaneoslyimproving ntritional levels among children. %he ob,ectives of the scheme are-(a) improving the ntritional stats of children stdying in lasses I!/III ingovernment local body and government aided school and 'GS AI' centers (b)encoraging poor children belonging to disadvantaged sections to attend schoolmore reglarly and help them concentrate on classroom activities (c) providingntritional spport to children of primary stage in droght!aected areas dring

    3. Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan(4SA) was approved by theGovernment of India in 2005 for niversalisation of access to and improvementof 6ality of secondary edcation. It aims to provide sefl and relevantsecondary edcation for all children in the 1+!1" age grops by 201+. %hescheme envisages- (i) provision of infrastrctre and resorces for secondaryedcation to improve the 6ality of learning (ii) provision for 7lling the missinggaps in the e8isting secondary school system and (iii) provision for e8tra spportfor edcation of girls$ rral children and stdents belonging to S S%$ minorityand other wea9er sections of the society and (iv) a holistic convergent framewor9for implementation of varios schemes in secondaryedcation.

Pradhan Mantri 'ram Sadak (o)na(GSC) was lanched in 2000 as aflly fnded entrally Sponsored Scheme to provide road connectivity in rralareas of the contry. %he program envisages connecting all habitations with apoplation of +00 persons and above (2+0 persons and above in respect of hillStates$ the tribal and desert areas). Since 1**3!*# the scope of the scheme was e8tended to non!SS%category of the rral D sb,ect to the condition that the bene7ts to the non!SS% poor wold not be more than #0E of the total IAC allocation.
