— CMW Tax Services LLC offers professionalism, consistency and a personal touch in preparing your indi-vidual or business taxes.

“It’s a very personal expe-rience here,” said owner Carline Woods. “You sit down with a tax preparer in a private office, and you have an hour-long interview in which your taxes are pre-pared. And you can come back and see the same tax preparer, every year, year after year.”

“And then there’s the fact that we’re open all year long. So if you have any issues with your tax return in the off season, if you get a letter from the IRS or any-thing like that, whenever you call here there’s some-one to answer your ques-tions and help,” she added.

Woods said she offers a very different service from large tax prepara-tion franchises, which are more of an assembly line experience with tax pre-

parers who may not have adequate training.

“I have well over 20 years of experience,” she said. “My first job out of high school was working in a tax office, so I’ve been doing this awhile.”

She previously worked for Tax Offices of America and Hoffnagle Associates, both in Bristol. Then she went to work for her friend Leo Carr, when he ran The Tax Office LLC.

“We worked together for probably 10 or 11 years at his business. Then he died in 2015, so I purchased the business at that point,” she said.

Woods noted that the recent federal tax reform will not affect anyone’s 2017 taxes, but she is constantly researching and keeping up with the litera-ture on taxes.

“I take classes every year to make sure that I’m up on the latest info,” she said.

She has two fellow tax preparers in the office: Karen Walsh, who gradu-ated with a degree in accounting from Boston College, and Jesse Caval-laro, who graduated with a degree in accounting from Salve Regina University.

The Tax Office — CMW Tax Services LLC has about 1,000 clients and probably 80 percent of them have been with the business any-where from 10 to 15 years, stated Woods.
