A WORD FROM THE ASSOCIATION The Central Coast Cricket Association would like to thank all players, parents, carers and volunteers, not at least the tireless

efforts of our Coaches and Managers; your commitment to cricket on the coast is very appreciated and valued. We trust you

enjoyed the challenges and rewards that representative cricket delivers.

We congratulate all representative players both teams and individuals on their performance this season. We particularly

congratulate the U15IDCA Minor Premiers for their outstanding performance in representing the coast and the ladies (Grace

Dignam, Hannah Green and Aleisha Bates) from our U15 Margaret Peden side gaining selection to the NSW/ACT Country

U15 side and the U15 Cricket Australia Squad.

This year through the efforts of the Central Coast Zone Academy Coach (Glenn Rowlands) and assisted by numerous specialist

coaches, Central Coast Cricket offered greater opportunity to its representative players. The academy whilst in its second year

focused namely on select players, it was able to incorporate specialist sessions to the wider representative community.

Planning for next year’s Regional Academy and centralised training facilities is well underway. These in addition to the Zone

Academy will increase the opportunity for specialist training and development for all representative players. The Zone and

Regional Academies combined with a focus on training facility provision forms part of the greater central coast cricket

development strategy, improving our players and increasing greater representative opportunities for all as part of the Cricket

NSW pathway.

The future is bright for Central Coast Cricket.

UNDER 11 – IDCA

This season saw all of our boys making their representative debut. After a few early changes the boys quickly formed a great

team atmosphere. With the competition not starting until the end of November it was a long wait, of training sessions,

anticipation and expectation before we actually got to start the season.

The team played 3 games before Christmas in the IDCA Competition, and then competed in the festivities of 5 games of

cricket in 4 Days in the Newcastle Carnival held early January, before returning to the final 4 games of the IDCA Competition.

The Team had a tough initiation, but bounced back well with a big run chase, before getting their first win running into the

Christmas break. Next was the Newcastle Carnival where the boys had a great experience, lots of cricket, some fantastic

individual performances and continued to build on their awesome team spirit. Then returning to the IDCA Competition with

new found confidence the results were strong for the rest of season with only one lazy result.

As coach I could not have been more proud of how the boys came together from different clubs for their first experience at

representing the Central Coast and joined forces to work as a team, supporting each other through their good achievements and

bad experiences. Each individual developed over the season and are certainly better cricketers now than how they started the

season. The Team friendships that have grown will hopefully last well past the end of this season and into future years of

competitive cricket.

A word of thanks to all my support crew (parents) for your energy in getting the boys to training and the games, helping set up,

assisting if and when required, the scoring, the umpiring, the lunches, the comic relief and most of all making my job easy. I

hope everyone enjoyed the year and are all excited about coming back to cricket next season.

UNDER 11 – DCA Looking back over the season I am very proud of the team in regards to the

development of each player and the results on the field. At the end of the

season we were one position away from making the semi-finals of the Ron

Arendts Memorial Shield played in Newcastle. This was a great effort

considering that several of the players will be eligible to play in U11’s next

season.

On an individual basis, special mention goes to Roop Dhillon, who batted

and bowled well all season. His fielding was also of a high standard and

took out the player of the year award and demonstrates captaincy material.

The three Narara boys Mitchell Stansbury, Riley Post and Bailey Howison

also batted and bowled consistently well all season. The boys improved

during the course of the season and Riley’s keeping to our spinners

especially.

The pleasing aspect of the team was the development of the players in the areas / roles they are now focusing on. Liam Roache,

comes to mind with his top order batting and came on well

with the ball as well. Bailey Lavin with his bowling

improved from match to match as too did his batting (no

such thing as a tail ender when you can value your wicket

Bailey). Sanjay Sharma demonstrated good all round

performances and his knock against North Shore on a

difficult pitch was pleasing as too was his accuracy with the

ball towards the end of the season.

From a coaching perspective the highlight of the year was

the improvement of Lachlan Smith who stepped into

bowling off-spin and took wickets and also made valuable

runs and took catches.

A big mention must go Sam McCrone who’s fielding was outstanding and demonstrates

a fierce determination and has the skills to be an all-rounder. Ryan Cox’s leg spin

bowling was top notch and took crucial wickets when thrown the ball and shows good

batting technique for a lower order batsman (and we all know what happened to Steve

Smith). Also big thanks to Alex Cutting for playing for the team in Newcastle and

performed well and will no doubt represent the Central Coast again.

Highlight of the year was the boy’s effort at the Ron Arendts Memorial Shield,

especially the big win over the top Newcastle side (with 6 wickets to Roop!)

Big Thanks goes out the Harj Dhillon, the team manager (and assistant coach) for the

co-ordination, Alison Stanbury for scoring and leading the Narara guys for assistance

when playing at home.

Representative cricket requires a big effort and many hands make light work and as such thanks for the season boys and

parents for a great season.

Well done lads and hope to see you next season.

UNDER 12 – IDCA

I was very lucky again this year having a great bunch of kids. Right from the first training session they all bonded

beautifully. We had a very lop sided draw this year and our results showed winning most of our games comfortably and

unfortunately losing to north shore in our last game knocking us out of top 2 team clash to decide the winner of the Alfred

James cup.

All in all our ground fielding was the by far the best I saw in the competition and our bowling was not far off it either.

Unfortunately our batting never really got going all year and that hurt us in a couple of our games.

I had great fun coaching such an enthusiastic group of young kids and I look forward to watching them develop into great

cricketers in the future !

Special thank you to Gary Birks for helping me with the team this year and also all the parents for helping with umpiring,

scoring and the lunches. I couldn't have done it without you!

Aidan Fenech - opened the batting again this year and did a great job for us. His technique is improving all the time and just

needs to keep the ball on the ground and the big scores will come.

Joseph Merlino - fearlessly opened the batting all year and along with Aidan, usually got us off to a great start. Joey's a great

all round sportsman and I expect to see him doing great things in the future.

Cooper Gifford-Cock - struggled a little with the bat this year but certainly made up for it in the field with some incredible

catches and all round enthusiasm for his team mates.

Jack Kidd - one of the most naturally talented kids I've ever seen. Cool as a cucumber with bat in hand and effortlessly fields

the ball cleanly and fires it in with his rocket arm. Star of the future!

Talon Stolz-great all round effort this year with bat & ball but most importantly did an awesome job captaining the team so

they ran like clockwork. Such an amazing cricket brain for a young kid who set great fields & organized his bowlers perfectly.

Nash Buttifant-bowled beautifully this year with his hooping inswingers! Great pair of hands in the field and did a great job

when asked to step up and captain the team when needed.



Fynn Newell-was deadly with the ball this year, bowling with good pace and bounce. Was a handful for every batter he

bowled too.

Jayden Birks- "the big show" was great with the new ball in hand, bowling beautiful outswingers they couldn't hit! Jayden

walking out to bat always got the kids and parents excited...hence I gave him the name the big show!

Lachlan Sellers- the bolter out of the pack, taking a ton of wickets this year and did it easily with his incredibly smooth

bowling action including 4 for 7 on his birthday!

Lucca Mare- a great all round cricketer who always manages to get a wicket and also hit a few sixes this year which is hard to

believe possible from such a little fella.

Lachlan Mylechreest-continued to improve his technique this year and his offside shots are developing nicely. Lachlan took

some great catches and just needs to work on consistency with his bowling and he will be a force to be reckoned with.

Kobe Langlar-unfortunately Kobe broke his wrist at the start of the season and missed most of the games but still came to

watch the boys! He came back with only a few games to go but he improved rapidly.

UNDER 12 – DCA

This season continued the player’s development as we welcomed a couple of new players to the fold. Once again, the

improvement in technical ability was clearly evident as we progressed through the winter programme and this year the players

learnt, somewhat the hard way, the mental side of the game once the season started.

The first half of the league season was tough for the squad with very limited match practice but still, there were lessons for the

players that thankfully were taken on board and contributed to a much stronger second half of the campaign. After two

consecutive defeats in the opening games, the side showed good character to then win two on the bounce to leave a slim

chance of qualifying for the finals stage. The final game was a little hectic – we went from a poor position with the bat (103-8),

to mustering a good competitive score (143-8); to throwing it away with the ball (Hawkesbury 116-1), to clawing it back with

the ball in a spell where we constricted Hawkesbury to 27-9, only to bowl a wide to level the scores, then to take the final

wicket to tie the match. The game was, perhaps, a reflection of the season.

On we went to the Lismore carnival – a 1300km round-trip to play five of the six games against teams from Sydney and

Newcastle. The squad took invaluable lessons about how to play on an Australian turf pitch (minefield) and they thoroughly

enjoyed the experience, commenting that they never wanted to go back to artificial wickets again. After winning the first three

matches we were eventually undone by a Manly side who took to rather dubious tactics. The penultimate game was washed out

before we lost the final match after sharing around the responsibilities.

In a season that contributed a few high-points and a few challenges, overall, the players can be pleased with what they learnt

from this season across all aspects of the game and as long as the effort is put in to refine these new skill sets, they will reap the

rewards over the coming years. We look forward to working with them again over the winter and look in anticipation towards

next season.

UNDER 13 – Mollie Dive

The U13 New Coasters Team is made up of a combination of girls from the Central Coast Cricket Association and the

Newcastle Junior Cricket Association. This season was always going to be a challenge given that the entire roster of the all-

conquering team last year moved on to the U15 Margaret Peden competition. Most of the girls had never played rep cricket

before and just quietly it was the first rep experience for the coach and manager as well!!!! Despite this however, the girls

worked really hard and gelled as a team very quickly and were very supportive of one-another.

During October and November the girls played in the U13 Mollie Dive competition against girls from the greater Sydney area

and even included a weekend trip to not-so-sunny Canberra! The girls gave every match their all and competed really heard,

with each and every one of them seeing significant improvement in their cricketing ability throughout the competition. Whilst

they were in with a chance in every game, they couldn’t quite crack it for a win unfortunately. It was fantastic to see that the

results never dampened their enthusiasm nor their enjoyment of the game. Great life lessons learnt along the way!!

During January most of the girls backed-up to play the U11 Ron Arendts boys carnival in Newcastle. A number of the girls

were unavailable due to family holiday commitments, so the team was joined by some additional players from last year’s team

that were still eligible to play. This was a great experience for the girls to be playing along-side girls with a lot more cricketing

experience. It was a very enjoyable week and there was immense joy when they won their last two games of the tournament

which was fantastic reward for the effort and spirit they have shown throughout the whole season.

We look forward to seeing what the team can achieve next season, given most of them will be eligible to play together again!

Amelia Finn – Skilful wicket keeper and fantastic fielder. Represented Hunter at PSSA.

Annika Hansen – Elegant number 3 batter who top-scored for the season. Vocal in the field, always supporting her

teammates.

Ashlie Stapleton – Never give-up attitude. Reliable top-order batter and accurate bowler. Represented Hunter at PSSA.

Kyah Pike – Pocket rocket. Courageous batter who showed great improvement throughout the season.

Brianna Irvine – Lethal opening bowler and big hitting batter. Threw herself at everything in the field. Great team player.



Emily Cross – Co-captain who led from the front in all forms of the game with great success. Grew as a leader throughout the

season. Represented Sydney North at PSSA.

Sienna Eve – Co-captain whose accurate left-arm-bowling saw her as the leading wicket-taker for the side. Grew as a leader

throughout the season. Represented CIS at PSSA.

Mikaedy Sammut – One of the most-improved players of the team. Courageous batter whose bowling baffled many a player!

Rachael Lavery – Skilful and courageous wicket keeper who was rock-solid at the top of the order. Great sense of humour

and a great team player! Represented Polding at PSSA.

Ruby Watt - Skilful and accurate bowler with a never-say-die attitude. Her batting improved greatly throughout the season.

Stephanie Hansen – Great fielder who was a rock-solid batter when we needed her most. Was fantastic to watch the dynamic

Hansen sisters batting together, running like gazelles between the wickets!!

Jade Day – Greatly improved bowler who bamboozled the best of them!! Her batting improved greatly throughout the season.

UNDER 13 – IDCA

The season had brought back some familiar faces, along with some new up and coming cricketers. Each person brought a

different set of skills, which we put them into the mix of a team environment, high hopes for a successful season was on the

cards.

We played 6 games for 2 wins and 4 losses.

We struggled in the early games as the opposition teams seem to have the one player who stood out. The turning point came

with an emphatic win against Newcastle who were undefeated at the stage after Christmas. Followed by a 2nd last ball loss to

The Hurricanes who sat equal top place.

The boys have learnt a lot of the season and the skills they have honed will assist them back at their local club. We have a

great team spirit which all of the parents can be proud of.

Well Done.

Declan Chown: Found his position in the middle order with a great innings against Newcastle.

Tangi Simpson: Still a work in progress, has been a great keeper for us again.

Ben Berry: The surprise player in the team, He can bat, bowl and even keep, well done a great first season.

Kynan Ford: A solid year, which exploded in Newcastle by taking 4 wickets, had a huge hand in winning the game for us.

Harry Steenburgen: Opened the batting and showed when he concentrates he can be a devastating player.

Nick Rowe: Showed some glimpses of his potential, his bowling was always tight and got the wickets when needed. Still can

throw down the stumps from anywhere.

Aaron Stanbury: His spin bowling has jumped leaps and bounds, was always reliable with the ball and bat.

James Yorke: In his first season and opened the bowling. Was always reliable with the new ball and got the wickets.

Harry Channels: Another first year player, he did not play all the games due to other commitments, showed his potential in

the last game with a great batting display, well done.

Lachlan De Mellows: One of our opening batsmen, who showed the reason why he was picked with a number of batting

displays.

Aiden McCrae: Found his place in the middle order and was always solid when asked to bat. Had a number of starts and

deserved his place in the side.

Mal Wells: One third of the wicket keeping job, didn’t get to show his potential too much, but a great team player.

Noah Waterson: Our replacement player who played 3 games and performed well in each game, can bat and bowl and saved

us in 2 games.



Thank my great support team in Alison Stanbury who is the best manager a coach could ask for.

To a wonderful group of parents who supported their children in a positive manner each week. Everyone who brought the food

for lunch each home game and to the men who umpired each game.

Keep encouraging them to do their best and we look forward to another great season next year.

UNDER 13 – DCA

2016-2017 was a year of team building for the 13DCA’s. As a group, they were outstanding in their application to training and

all boys displayed improvement throughout the year. Our new players fitted in well and tried hard to adjust to representative

cricket. The team spirit and excellent sportsmanship that was evident in this group of boys was terrific and often commented

on by other teams.

Many thanks all parents for their encouraging attitude and special mention to Tracey Rosine our manager who was always

there to assist at training and games, John Ranger who assisted with the coaching and the various parents for scoring and

providing the beautiful afternoon teas. Overall I was pleased with our on-field results and it was nice to see us perform well in

the U13 Ballina carnival having some great wins and a couple of narrow losses. (Scott Dunn, U13DCA Coach 2016-17)

Charlie Baresic: Charlie was our wicket keeper who continued to improve throughout the season. His wicket keeping was

always tidy and he showcased this in Ballina winning an award for his catching. Batting in the middle to lower order he played

a couple of handy innings.

Nick Toohey: Nick is a dedicated cricketer who takes the game very seriously and shows great passion and commitment. He

proved to be an excellent all-rounder with particular skills as a batsman.

Austin Haba: Austin proved himself to be our solid opening batter, consistently scoring runs. He is a very reliable bowler

proving to be very handy in the field as well. Training effort was second to none.

Daniel Rosine: Daniel was very reliable with the ball consistently restricting the opposition batsmen. His fielding improved

out of sight towards the end of the season and he played some handy lower order innings.

Karan Katli: Karen proved to be our most outstanding fielder saving our team numerous amount of runs. He bowled well in

all innings restricting the other teams scores and at times showed signs of the batting talent he is capable of.

Alexander Bell: Started the season as a quiet achiever, ended the season with great enthusiasm in the field lending lots of

support to his team mates. His confidence improved greatly with his batting as the season progressed scoring a fine 50 and his

bowling was always consistent for his team when needed.

Mitchell Ryan: Mitchell was by far the biggest personality on the team with his sense of humor. A very talented batter who

proved that he can bat for long periods and was often involved in a number of solid partnerships.



Alex Simos: Started the preseason well then bad luck and a stress fracture ruled him out for the whole season. I look forward

to him returning bigger and better next season.

Lachlan Rainger: Lachlan’s bowling saw him pick up wickets at crucial times of the match and his fielding was always at a

high level. Always bowled an outstanding line and length and has great potential as an allrounder.

Isaiah Brettoner: Isaiah established himself as one of our opening bowlers and regularly caused plenty of problems by

bowling at a very lively pace. Always respectful and a great team member.

Liam McIntyre: Liam was possibly the quietest achiever on the team but proved himself to be a competent cricketer

especially opening the bowling. A great throwing arm and good hands make him a promising all-round cricketer.

Austin Atherton: Found his first season of representative cricket challenging but he never complained and demonstrated great

respect and loyalty. He always was trying to improve and become a better cricketer. Austin was a pleasure to coach and great

fun to have around.

Parker Robinson: A cruel injury ruled him out for most of the representative season. When he returned showed his

wicketkeeping and fielding to be as good as anybody. Has the potential to do anything when he puts his mind to it. An

incredibly talented sportsperson.

UNDER 14 – IDCA

For six out of seven new players we had in our team it was their first year of representative cricket. At the start of the season,

there was a steep learning curve at the higher standard of cricket and we had little time to prepare and mould ourselves into a

team before our first match against North Shore, always a difficult game. However, by the end of the season we had formed

ourselves into a formidable unit with a number of creditable wins under the belt. Well done guys.

Before we reminisce about the past season, I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all the parents, for without their support we

would not be able to run a successful representative season. Driving to training and to matches on a Sunday coupled with

routine duties such as scoring and umpiring not to mention the work load to produce outstanding lunches for our home games

is a huge commitment. Special thanks to Belke Weathers and all the mums for organizing these gastronomic masterpieces, we

may not always have won the cricket match but we certainly won the lunches by a long margin.

Thanks also to Danny Weathers and Bev Mylchreest who produced efficient and accurate scorebooks through sometimes

trying conditions and to Phil Knox for manning the barbeque and helping with early starts to get the field setup. Thanks also to

those parents who manned the square leg umpire position in uncomfortable and furnace like conditions. Thanks to Matt

Delaney for using his equipment to dewater the pitch and get us rolling against Illawarra. I urge our team members to fully

appreciate their parent’s efforts in supporting the representative cricket season.

Overall our team was competitive throughout the IDCA season just falling short in the last couple of overs on a few occasions,

for example; we had the eventual finalists North Shore all out for 79 in the 38 th over and despite having a reasonable start at

4/45 we failed to run them down, the one that got away! As we gelled as a team we gained experience, improved in our

bowling and fielding resulting in a great finish to the season by overcoming Illawarra, Penrith and North-West Sydney. Our

Newcastle Carnival was a real success beating some DCA sides with some outstanding fielding, bowling and batting. We had

North Shore DCA at 5 for 38 at one stage chasing our meagre 77 by high level intensity fielding and bowling, a great effort.

We all came away from this Carnival a more cohesive team.

And so at the end of the season, although cricket is most assuredly a team game, one looks back at individual milestones and

achievements which stand out and should be acknowledged:

• It is not easy coming down from a DCA side but I must acknowledge the enthusiasm, commitment and love of cricket that

our captain, Jordan Heil displayed this year. His maturity and positive, calm outlook in addition to his sterling efforts behind

the stumps guided us through the season. Well done Jordan.



• Congratulations to our players who undertook opening batsmen duties this season, this is a tough job, requires courage, runs

are well earned and often goes under appreciated. We all remember the short stuff bowled by “Big Red”. Well done to Lachlan

Spencer, Lincoln Delaney, Kye Fearnley and Eli Knox. All of these guys were cool under fire, ensured the team got a start,

took the shine off the ball and consistently waved off the opening bowlers.

• Our middle order batsmen of Tex Arthur, Cooper Mortimer, Jordan Heil, Jack Swainston and Hunter Jackson-Sullivan all put

a hundred percent in chasing down a total or adding to the score. It was exciting stuff at times and the guys had to perform

under match stress and although they did not always get a score some great boundaries were made contributing to our wins.

Special mention goes to Tex Arthur with a great 50 at the Newcastle Carnival and a swashbuckling 31 against Illawarra in 42

balls and to Jack Swainston and Cooper Mortimer clearing the boundary rope easily on occasions for highly sought after quick

runs.

• Our bowlers performed well this year improving as the season progressed. Special mention must go to Elliot Mylchreest who

bowled inspired against North West Sydney taking for 5 for 7 off six overs and to Hunter Jackson-Sullivan for his 10 wickets

at the Newcastle Carnival and keeping the batsman always guessing in the IDCA. Jack “Swaino” Swainston bowled with speed

and venom this year on a consistent basis causing batsman to falter with Michael Weathers bowling accurately to keep the runs

from flowing and adding pressure to the batting side, great work guys. Our support bowlers of Tex Arthur, Cooper Mortimer,

Lachlan Spencer, Lakin Hampton and Lincoln Delaney all had their special days in jagging key wickets at a time when we

needed them most. Tex always managed to mesmorize a batsman on a less than average ball!

• Although we had one dropsy match our fielding improved by leaps and bounds despite groans at training, ( the tennis racquet

and ball works guys!). The highlights include Jordan Heil’s work behind the stumps, an absolute stunning one handed diving

catch at square leg by Michael Weathers, several “off the planet” diving catches by Jack Swainston, reliable catching and

One of the great aspects of Representative Cricket is the opportunity for the guys to network with players of ability from other

clubs while improving their own skills and confidence levels. I’m sure new friends were made this season and old friendships

reactivated. Thanks must go to the CCJCA for allowing the players this opportunity. It was an absolute pleasure to coach a

great bunch of guys this season and I wish the players all the best for their cricket futures.

UNDER 14 – DCA

Continuing the last two year’s success was always going to be a tall order to achieve, but a challenge none the less the team

took on and achieved. We placed a large amount of focus on the individual’s role and responsibility within the team plus

intermediate teams targets in order for the team to succeed as a whole. As a result the team overcame injuries to players which

ordinarily would have crippled other teams and which made the achievements this year only sweater.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the tireless efforts of both our Team Manager’s Maree Sammut and Dave Giltinan. To be

able to focus my attention on the players and know you have a great crew in support is invaluable. Thank you Maree and Dave,

I really appreciate your assistance and guidance throughout the season.

This year we also introduced two new players to the team (Harry & Josh) who fitted in seamlessly. Thank you to the team for

making their transition easy and one which allowed them to show their class and contribute to the team.

One of the hardest job’s within the team is that of the Captain, I would like to make special mention for our Captain, Ben

Sammut. Ben’s guidance both on and off the park was exemplary and one I believe set us aside from many other teams

particularly when in the heat of battle. I am sure Ben grew again from the experience and one his mum & dad look upon with

pride.

As mentioned earlier we had some injuries, I am happy to report the team overcame these challenges whilst being well

supported from U14 IDCA’s Jordan Heil, U13DCA’s Austin Haba and Nick Toohey. Thank you boy’s for hearing our call for

support.

Finally but not least, thank you to all the parents for supporting the team, whether it be as a massage therapists, phycologists,

physio’s or professional gazebo erector. A true harmonious team has support from all angles and we have certainly been

fortunate to play cricket as a family in this environment.

Well done boys, bigger and better things next season on turf. I look forward to the challenges and excitement to come.

UNDER 15 – Margaret Peden

Darren Bates and I had the privilege of coaching and mentoring a fantastic group of young ladies in the NSW DCA Margaret

Peden competition over the past season.

Following some excellent pre-season training, the girls hit the ground running with a great win in Round 1 over Canterbury-

Wests. We batted first and scored 6/179, with our skipper Grace Dignam scoring 80*, Sophie Shelley 35, Pyper Denneman 19

and a nice little cameo of 17 from Ebony Wright. We then bowled out Canterbury for 132, with Hannah Green and Rhiannon

Radcliffe both taking three wickets and Ebony Wright and Sophie Shelley taking the others.

Round 2 saw us beat Hornsby Kuring-Gai outright at the beautiful Barker College, where the highlight was a magnificent

innings of 103 from Alisha Bates, which included 17 fours and 1 six in only 20 overs, and 45 not out from Hannah Green.

With the ball, Rhiannon took 7 wickets in the game with 4 in the first innings and 3 in the second, with Elissa Andrews also

taking three wickets. Despite being a newcomer to the game, Heidi Green showed great hands to take her first ever catch to top

off some tight bowling earlier in the day.

We travelled to Lane Cove for our Round 3 game, where we kept our undefeated record going with a comfortable win over

North Shore. We scored 7/146 of our 40 overs, with Shannon Liddle top scoring with a lovely knock of 34, ably supported by

Sophie Shelley (29), Alisha Bates (21), Jaz Denneman (20) and Lucy Peters (10). In reply, North Shore was bowled out for 92

with Rhiannon Radcliffe again taking a bag of wickets with her impeccable line and length, this time 4 for 9. Grace Dignam

and Sophie Shelley took two wickets each, with Ebony Wright and Elissa Andrews taking the remainder.

Round 4 saw us account for Manly at home, with the visitors bowled out for 114 and Central Coast passing their score only 2

wickets down. Stars with the ball were – you guessed it – Rhiannon Radcliffe, this time taking 5-11, with the other wickets

shared amongst Grace Dignam, Hannah Green and Lucy Peters. The target was knocked off in 35 overs by Shannon Liddle

(26*), Pyper Denneman (19), Grace Dignam (20) and Alisha Bates (29*).

To say our final round game was an epic match would be an understatement! We took on our great friends but fierce

competitors Newcastle in a battle for the top spot in the pool, and what a battle it turned out to be. Batting first, Newcastle

scored an extremely competitive 7/184 off their 40 overs, with two wickets each to Elissa Andrews and Hannah Green. After a

very solid opening partnership of 44 to start to our chase, we lost 3 quick wickets (Shannon Liddle 16, Pyper Denneman 33

and Grace Dignam 16) to be in trouble at 3/72. However, with exceptional running and shot placement, Alisha Bates (47*) and

Hannah Green (53) then put together a fantastic partnership of 108 to get us to 4/180 off 38 overs and all but over the line.

With only 2 runs needed off the final over with 6 wickets in hand, we subsequently lost 4 wickets in 5 chaotic balls for only 1

run, leaving us 1 run to win off the final delivery. After a turned down appeal for caught behind against Elissa Andrews and a

missed throw at the stumps by their keeper, Alisha Bates scrambled through for a miraculous bye to get us home.

Unfortunately we couldn't repeat the heroics the following week and only managed to post 70 batting first in the Semi final

against Camden, which included 6 run-outs. Our opponents chased down the target only 1 wicket down inside 20 overs to

bring our season to a close.

Despite missing the final, this side can take great pride in their achievement to top the pool. Even more importantly, Darren

and I are exceptionally proud of the manner and spirit in which they conducted themselves both at training and during games.

They played tough and competitive cricket but with a lot of laughs and with huge respect for their opposition, umpires and

their coaches alike. This is a real credit to these wonderful young ladies and made them great fun to be around and extremely

easy for Darren and me to coach. They were also a very close knit team who are all genuinely friends which made the season

all the more enjoyable for all of us. So thanks girls and all the best for next season and beyond.

In amongst all of the girls’ great performances, special mention must go to Rhiannon Radcliffe, who took out the Margaret

Peden bowling award with 17 wickets at the miserly average of 3.88 with best figures of 5/11. Congratulations Rhiannon.

On behalf of Darren, I would also like to pass on a big thank you to our parents for their friendship and exceptional support

throughout the season, be it with training (where most of the dads joined in warm ups or assisted with drills), scoring, umpiring

or organising great lunches on home games. So thanks to all of you, we couldn’t have had the season we had without you.

My final thank you is to Darren Bates for his work with and dedication to this team over the past season. Darren’s preparation

for training and games was second to none, as was his ongoing desire and commitment to improve the girls’ skills. He was a

constant source of encouragement to the girls and provided them with tremendous insight into and knowledge of the game that

will be of benefit to them throughout their cricketing careers. He was also a lot of fun to coach with and talk to about all sorts

of things other than cricket as we did laps of the oval solving the world’s problems. Thanks mate.

UNDER 15 – IDCA

Another good Rep season for the Under 15's IDCA team. Taking out the minor premiership was a great effort as we lost a

close game to Newcastle and we thought it might be tough to finish top 2. All the boys performed admirably, especially those

boys who were representing the Central Coast for the first time.

Thank you to the boys who filled in and it would be great to see everyone continue to improve their cricket in the years to

come.

UNDER 15 – DCA The U15 DCA proved to be the most challenging season to date for our boys with every opponent testing our resolve.

We started the season with a hard fought win over Northern Districts. ND's scoring 9/166, Nick Hay taking three wickets, Jack

Heuston and Broc Hardy two each. We passed the total six wickets down in the 46th over. Joey Liddle (56), Jack Heuston

(26no), Callum Dunkerly (24) and Jake Holmes (22) were the main contributors.

In round two we put on an impressive 225 against Hawkesbury with Jake Holmes and Broc Hardy putting on an solid 50 run

opening partnership before Joey Liddle (61) and Kaleb Daley (71) piled on the runs. Hawkesbury took the game deep before

we eventually dismissed Hawkesbury for 193 in the 49th. Kaleb Daley cleaned up the tail with three wickets. Nick Hay and

Jack Heuston taking two apiece.

Round 3 saw us up against Fairfield Liverpool who keep us to a modest score of 9/113 after having us in serious trouble at 3/8.

Kaleb Daley (33), Nick Hay (18) and Lochie Allison's (17) efforts kept us in the game. Our bowlers rose to the challenge

dismissing Fairfield Liverpool for 84. Joe Horner (3) and Nick Hay (2) doing most of the damage.

Round 4 we came up against a strong Blacktown team on a spin friendly wicket. After dismissing Blacktown for 68 we were

confident of another victory, however were wary of the demons in the pitch. Nick Hay, Joe Horner and Broc Hardy picked up

two wickets each. In reply we were in trouble early at 5/23 before falling agonisingly close just three runs short. Jack Heuston's

(21no) and Joe Horner (8) were the best with the bat.

Round 5 v Camden was a must win game and the boys didn't disappoint. Camden won the toss and elected to bat, putting on

132 before being bowled out in the 42nd over. Kaleb Daley taking three wickets, Jack Heuston and Nick Hay two apiece. In

reply we lost two early wickets and then had a middle collapse losing 5/27 before Joey Liddle (38) and Jake Holmes (51)

batted beautifully against a quality attack to get us home eight wickets down in the 46th Over.

Due to our loss to Blacktown we finished second in our pool (on for and against) which saw us play Newcastle in Newcastle

for our qualifying final. Newcastle won the toss and put on a competitive 7/153 off their 50 overs. Nick Hay (four wickets)

and Broc Hardy (two) were both impressive with the ball. After a steady start we had another middle order collapse (6/10)

which saw us bowled out for

110 in the 46th over, Callum Dunkerly (41) and Kaleb Daley (21) were the only batsmen to put up any resistance.

After winning four DCA titles and qualifying for the DCA finals for our sixth straight year the boys haven't experienced too

many losses and all the boys should be commended for the way they handled their disappointment.

We have been extremely lucky to have such a great group of parents who help out every week. This allows us to focus on the

boys and for the boys to do what they do best on the field. Without this level of cooperation our teams success wouldn't have

been possible or half as enjoyable.

There is too much talent and desire to improve in this team for us not to be a force again next season. Looking forward to

seeing all the boys again next season to see how they can sign off on their junior representative careers.

UNDER 16 – DCA The U16’s this season gained many new players who all bought something unique to the team.

Whilst we didn’t come away with too many wins, the boys all learnt a lot & had a good time in the process.

A big thank you to all the parents for their efforts in co-ordinating the travel, lunches & support for the boys.

Sadly, this is an end of an era for these young men as their junior representative career come to an end, we wish them all the

very best for the years to come
