Center Moriches Artists in the Library GalleryARTIST INFORMATIONIn November, we will feature Peter Russo's "Eternal Sea". Inspired by the Long Island coastline, Mr. Russo portrays the living experience of the Atlantic. With a degree in marine biology, work experience on the docks and a commanding view of the ocean, he is never far from inspiration.

Our December artist is Rick Jackimowicz. His exhibit will include landscape, abstract, infrared and astrophotography. Long Island shown in a different perspective, in both visible and infrared light, and a few images of the heavens taken locally.

Healthy Libraries and Social Work InternThe Healthy Libraries Program (HeLP) consists of students who are currently training in the fields of social work, public health, library science, and nursing, who are available at the library to provide blood pressure screenings, and to answer questions and provide reliable, evidence based information on a wide variety of health topics such as heart disease, diabetes, understanding medications and much more. Students are also available to direct patrons to community resources, help fill out paperwork for social services, find housing, and assist with finding a healthcare provider and scheduling appointments. This program will be available to all community members on November 9th, 23rd, and December 7th between the hours of 2:00 pm -4:30 pm. Additionally, our Social Work Intern is available on Mondays between the hours of 11:00 am – 3:00 pm and Tuesdays between the hours of 11:00 am – 5:00 pm and can assist with emergency clothing and shelter; family matters and food assistance. To schedule an appointment please call the Reference desk at 631-878-0940 ext. 5. All are welcome and there is no fee to use these services.

Mitten TreeCenter Moriches Library is collecting NEW hats, gloves, mittens and scarves to give to people in need in our community. Please stop by our mitten tree located near the brick column by the Adult Reference Desk to place your donations. We will begin decorating the tree on Monday, November 29th and will accept donations until Friday, December 17th. (Teens who bring in donations should stop by the Teen Department to receive an hour of community service.)_________________________________________________

Toys for TotsThe Center Moriches Library will again be hosting the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Look for the donation box in the entrance hallway beginning on Friday, November 12th and place your donations of new, unwrapped toys in there to help make a child’s holiday a little brighter. We will accept donations until Monday, December 20th.

IN PERSON PROGRAM POLICYAll unvaccinated patrons over the age of 24 months are required to wear face masks that cover the nose and mouth. The CDC recommends that children 2 and older wear face masks to prevent the spread of the virus.

In order to serve as many patrons as possible while adhering to social distancing guidelines, we ask that only one adult per child attend in person programs. In the case of siblings, the sibling must also be registered and fall within the age parameters of the program.

IN PERSON PROGRAM POLICYWe ask that all unvaccinated patrons over the age of 24 months wear face masks that cover the nose and mouth The CDC recommends that unvaccinated children 2 and older wear face masks to prevent the spread of infection.

In order to serve as many patrons as possible while adhering to social distancing guidelines, we ask that only one adult per child attend in person programs. In the case of siblings, the sibling must also be registered and fall within the age parameters of the program.

Send a copy of your Covid vaccination card along with your reservation. Non-vaccinated travelers must provide a copy of their nega-tive Covid test result on the day of the trip prior to board-ing. Volunteers Needed!The FOL Action Committee is full of new ideas while enhanc-ing our tried and true programs. We really could use some extra hands with many of our programs. In particular, Donated Books: If you are familiar with the processing and selling used books online through Amazon, eBay, or an online buying site. Bus Trips: We need people to assist in organizing our bus trips. Most trips are one day, some are overnight excursions. Fund-raising: Have some good fundraising ideas and skills?
