Removing

Note:

WARNING!

Before working on electrical system: Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap => Repair Manual; Electrical; Repair Group 27; Battery, disconnecting and reconnecting

Removal and installation procedures may have to be modified slightly depending on equipment variants.

Obtain radio unit code before disconnecting battery.

Remove center armrest => page 68-41.

Remove ashtray -7- as well as drinks holders -8- and -14- => page 68-12.

Pull parking brake lever on, release trim using a screwdriver and pull forward off parking brake lever -arrow-.

Unclip gearshift boot -1- from center console and slide upward.

Only if required for further work, remove clamp -2- and remove gearshift along with boot.

Remove screws -9-, -2- and -15-.

Pull cover -10- off and separate cigarette lighter -13- connection.

Remove screws -12- and take out insert -11-.

Unclip cover caps -4- and remove screws -3-.

Remove screws -5- and -16-.

Lift rear of center console -1-, pull to rear and remove upward over gearshift.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Note:

After reconnecting battery, make sure vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric windows) is checked as per Workshop manual and/or Owner's manual.
